Estimation of Road Centerline Curvature From Raw GPS Data

open access: yesThe Baltic Journal of Road and Bridge Engineering, 2011
Development and wide use of route guidance systems lead to the need for suitable digital maps that can be used for some advanced applications. Sufficient accuracy of road geometry with emphasis on road centerline positions and curvature is crucial.

Unit-sphere games [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
This paper introduces a class of games, called unit-sphere games, where strategies are real vectors with unit 2-norms (or, on a unit-sphere). As a result, they can no longer be interpreted as probability distributions over actions, but rather be thought of as allocations of one unit of resource to actions and the multiplicative payoff effect on each ...

Etoposide‐induced cancer cell death: roles of mitochondrial VDAC1 and calpain, and resistance mechanisms

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The complex mode of action of the topoisomerase II inhibitor etoposide in triggering apoptosis involves several mechanisms: overexpression of the mitochondrial protein VDAC1, leading to its oligomerization and formation of a large channel that mediates the release of pro‐apoptotic protein; and overexpression of the apoptosis regulators p53, Bax, and ...

Bloch sphere model for two-qubit pure states [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
The two-qubit pure state is explicitly parameterized by three unit 2-spheres and a phase factor. For separable states, two of the three unit spheres are the Bloch spheres of each qubit. The third sphere parameterizes the degree and phase of concurrence, an entanglement measure.

On minimal spheres of area $4\pi$ and rigidity

open access: yes, 2013
Let $M$ be a complete Riemannian $3$-manifold with sectional curvatures between $0$ and $1$. A minimal $2$-sphere immersed in $M$ has area at least $4\pi$.

High-contrast imaging of Sirius A with VLT/SPHERE: looking for giant planets down to one astronomical unit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Sirius has always attracted a lot of scientific interest, especially after the discovery of a companion white dwarf at the end of the 19th century. Very early on, the existence of a potential third bodywas put forward to explain some of the observed ...

Molecular and functional profiling unravels targetable vulnerabilities in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We used whole exome and RNA‐sequencing to profile divergent genomic and transcriptomic landscapes of microsatellite stable (MSS) and microsatellite instable (MSI) colorectal cancer. Alterations were classified using a computational score for integrative cancer variant annotation and prioritization.

Rasch modelling to deal with changes in the questionnaires used during long-term follow-up of cohort studies: a simulation study

open access: yesBMC Medical Research Methodology, 2016
Background A specific measurement issue often occurs in cohort studies with long-term follow-up: the substitution of the classic instruments used to assess one or several factors or outcomes studied by new, more reliable, more accurate or more convenient

Compact packings of space with three sizes of spheres [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
A sphere packing of the three-dimensional Euclidean space is compact if it has only tetrahedral holes, that is, any local maximum of the distance to the spheres is at equal distance to exactly four spheres. This papers describes all the compact packings with spheres of three different sizes.

Classification of acute myeloid leukemia based on multi‐omics and prognosis prediction value

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The Unsupervised AML Multi‐Omics Classification System (UAMOCS) integrates genomic, methylation, and transcriptomic data to categorize AML patients into three subtypes (UAMOCS1‐3). This classification reveals clinical relevance, highlighting immune and chromosomal characteristics, prognosis, and therapeutic vulnerabilities.
