On some Banach space constants arising in nonlinear fixed point and eigenvalue theory
As is well known, in any infinite-dimensional Banach space one may find fixed point free self-maps of the unit ball, retractions of the unit ball onto its boundary, contractions of the unit sphere, and nonzero maps without positive eigenvalues and ...

A Reeb sphere theorem in graph theory [PDF]
We prove a Reeb sphere theorem for finite simple graphs. The result bridges two different definitions of spheres in graph theory. We also reformulate Morse conditions in terms of the center manifolds, the level surface graphs {f=f(x)} in the unit sphere S(x).

This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.

A New Family of Buckled Rings on the Unit Sphere
Buckled rings, also known as pressurized elastic circles, can be described as critical points for a variational problem, namely the integral of a quadratic polynomial in the geodesic curvature of a curve. Thus, they are a generalization of elastic curves,

A nonsmooth program for jamming hard spheres [PDF]
We study packings of $n$ hard spheres of equal radius in the $d$-dimensional unit cube. We present a nonsmooth function whose local extrema are the radii of jammed packings (where no subset of spheres can be moved keeping all others fixed) and show that for a fixed number of spheres there are only finitely many radii of such jammed configurations.

Landscape of BRAF transcript variants in human cancer
We investigate the annotation of BRAF variants, focusing on protein‐coding BRAF‐220 (formerly BRAF‐reference) and BRAF‐204 (BRAF‐X1). The IsoWorm pipeline allows us to quantify these variants in human cancer, starting from RNA‐sequencing data. BRAF‐204 is more abundant than BRAF‐220 and impacts patient survival.

A note on iterated maps of the unit sphere
Let $\mathcal{C}(S^{m})$ denote the set of continuous maps from the unit sphere $S^{m}$ in $\mathbb{R}^{m+1}$ into itself endowed with the supremum norm. We prove that the set $\{f^n: f\in \mathcal{C}(S^{m})~\text{and}~n\ge 2\}$ of iterated maps is not dense in $\mathcal{C}(S^{m})$.

A new characterization of the Calabi torus in the unit sphere [PDF]
In this paper, we study the rigidity theorem of closed minimally immersed Legendrian submanifolds in the unit sphere. Utilizing the maximum principle, we obtain a new characterization of the Calabi torus in the unit sphere which is the minimal Calabi product Legendrian immersion of a point and the totally geodesic Legendrian sphere.

TRPM8 levels determine tumor vulnerability to channel agonists
TRPM8 is a Ca2+ permissive channel. Regardless of the amount of its transcript, high levels of TRPM8 protein mark different tumors, including prostate, breast, colorectal, and lung carcinomas. Targeting TRPM8 with channel agonists stimulates inward calcium currents followed by emptying of cytosolic Ca2+ stores in cancer cells.

Weighted Approximation for Jackson-Matsuoka Polynomials on the Sphere
We consider the best approximation by Jackson-Matsuoka polynomials in the weighted Lp space on the unit sphere of Rd. Using the relation between K-functionals and modulus of smoothness on the sphere, we obtain the direct and inverse estimate of ...
