A Mechanism to Stabilize the Non-Unitary State for the Heavy Fermion Superconductor UPt3

, 1995
We consider a mechanism to stabilize the non-unitary state proposed for the pairing state of the heavy Fermion superconductor UPt 3 . If the derivative of the density of states with respect to the energy is finite at the Fermi surface, the non-unitary ...

The unitary state and federalism in Italy

Parliaments, Estates and Representation, 1999
SUMMARY In this article, Carlo Ghisalberti discusses the role of federalist and confederationalist ideas in the history of the development of a united Italy. The issue was always on the agenda after 1815 as a legacy of the Napoleonic era, which had introduced broadly similar institutions through the peninsula.

From unitary state to union state: Labour's changing view of the United Kingdom and its implications

, 1996
In an earlier paper I argued that the Conservatives have undergone a change in their attitude towards the UK. Formerly they saw the UK as a union state but they have increasingly viewed it as a unitary state.

Coherent states for the unitary symplectic group

Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 2004
We present an explicit construction of coherent states for an arbitrary irreducible representation of the unitary symplectic group USp(4). Three different families of coherent states are obtained, corresponding to the subgroups U(1) × U(1), U(2) and SU(2) × SU(2).

Quasi-coherent states for unitary groups [PDF]

open access: possibleJournal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1985
The author extends a recent construction of isotropic spin-coherent states to unitary groups. Expectation values in such a quasi-coherent state can be obtained from a generating functional which is given explicitly for the fundamental and the adjoint representations of the unitary groups SU(N) and U(N).

The Establishment of the Kingdom of Italy as a Unitary State: A Case Study in Regime Formation

, 1983
This article examines the establishment of a highly centralized unitary state in the newly formed Kingdom of Italy during 1848-1870. This study analyzes the general theoretical problem that underlies the Italian case, namely, the factors that play a key ...

GEOMETRIC PHASES FOR MIXED STATES DURING UNITARY AND NON-UNITARY EVOLUTIONS

International Journal of Quantum Information, 2003
Mixed states typically arise when quantum systems interact with the outside world. Evolution of open quantum systems in general are described by quantum operations which are represented by completely positive maps. We elucidate the notion of geometric phase for a quantum system described by a mixed state undergoing unitary evolution and non-unitary ...

Asymmetry in Federations, Federacies and Unitary States

Ethnopolitics, 2007
The first political scientist formally to discuss asymmetry in the context of federations was the American Charles Tarlton in the Journal of Politics (Tarlton, 1965).
