Salmonella Enteritidis PT6: Another Egg-Associated Salmonellosis?

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 1998
Salmonella Enteritidis phage type 6 (PT6) increased dramatically in the United Kingdom during 1997. The sharp rise suggests that PT6 contamination has spread rapidly throughout a basic food commodity; however, the source and food vehicle remain unknown ...

Coherent tunnelling through two quantum dots with Coulomb interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The coherent conductance and current is calculated through two quantum dots using the Hubbard model for a single level per spin. The occurrence of negative differential conductance is demonstrated. The Ohmic conductance is calculated for dots with equally spaced levels.

Considering the Risks and Costs of Solid Organ Xenotransplantation

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
This perspective discusses the rationale, risks, and costs of whole‐organ xenotransplantation. It considers alternative strategies to obviate the demand for transplants and optimize allotransplantation systems and practices that do not impose xenotransplantation's harms and risks, and whether they are the most ethical and effective means to increase ...

Conformality and Unification of Gauge Couplings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
By use of the AdS/CFT correspondence on orbifolds, models are derived which can contain the standard model of particle phenomenology. It will be assumed that the theory becomes conformally invariant at a renormalization-group fixed-point in the TeV region. A recent application to TeV unification is briefly mentioned.
