Hierarchically Engineered Triple‐Defensive Antifouling Coating with Well‐Regulated Structure for Enhanced Wastewater Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by shark skin, which has a hydrophilic “denticle layer” and a low surface energy “mucus layer,” a triple‐defense antifouling coating is developed. This coating features a robust hydrophilic catalytic nanoparticle layer overlaid with dispersed hydrophobic perfluoro‐silane domains, optimizing fouling resistance, release, and degradation for ...

Two Different Methods for Modelling the Likely Upper Economic Limit of the Future United Kingdom Wind Fleet [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Methods for predicting the likely upper economic limit for the wind fleet in the United Kingdom should be simple to use whilst being able to cope with evolving technologies, costs and grid management strategies. This paper present two such models, both of which use data on historical wind patterns but apply different approaches to estimating the extent

Interfacial Contact Engineering Enables Giant‐Performance Semiconductor Nanomembrane Optoelectronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work investigates modifying interfacial contacts in realizing giant‐performance semiconductor nanomembrane optoelectronics. Strategies, including surface reaction and buffer layer work‐function modulation, are explored to boost the Schottky barrier. An emerging material of YbOx is utilized for near‐ideal Ohmic contact.

United Kingdom judges and European integration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The British, specifically the English, are widely regarded as awkward partners in the European project. Much of the criticism has come from anti-European integration politicians.

Narrowband Detection via Charge Collection Narrowing Organic Photodetector Enabled by Low Bandgap Random Terpolymer for Biometric Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel low‐bandgap random terpolymer is designed for narrow band detection in charge collection narrowing (CCN) based organic photodetectors. With a relative thin active layer (<1 µm), the CCN‐based devices achieved a narrowband response of 68 nm full‐width‐at‐half‐maximum at 916 nm, together with Responsivity values of 0.13 A W−1 and dark current of ...
