Status epilepticus: Updates on mechanisms and treatments

Abstract Status epilepticus (SE) consists of prolonged, self‐sustaining seizures and is a common neurological emergency that causes respiratory compromise and neuronal injury. Without prompt treatment, the seizures can become resistant to benzodiazepines, leading to the progressive evolution of established, refractory, and super‐refractory SE.

Climate change effects on biomass and greenhouse gas emissions are ameliorated by nontoxic endophytes in southeastern USA transition zone tall fescue pastures

Tall fescue produces more biomass and less carbon dioxide from the soil when it contains its beneficial fungal endophyte. Increased temperatures projected with climate change reduce fescue biomass, while altered rainfall frequency does not. Altering rainfall frequency and increasing temperatures can reduce carbon dioxide emissions from soil.

Promoting Safe Opioid Disposal: Experimental Evidence on Behavioral Messaging With Financial Incentives

ABSTRACT Some patients prescribed opioid pills fail to properly dispose of their unused pills, posing a risk for others. We report results from a pre‐registered field experiment testing whether behaviorally informed reminder cards increase participation in a financial incentive program for returning unused opioid pills among U.S. Veterans.
