Biodegradable 3D‐Printable and Coatable Antifouling Composites for Marine Applications

Marine biofouling damages submerged surfaces and raises greenhouse gas emissions. Biodegradable antifouling biocomposites were developed by hot‐mixing beeswax, Tween 80, and calcium stearate or stearic acid. Adjusting the component ratio enables processing via hot‐pressing, 3D‐printing, or dip‐coating.

A pioneering magnetogenetic toolkit enables non‐invasive, precise spatiotemporal modulation of intracellular Wnt/β‐catenin signaling. Functionalized magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs@E/EC15) target cellular E‐cadherins to generate localized magnetomechanical forces under low‐intensity magnetic fields.

This thesis tests four models of bureaucratic motivation against data obtained during interviews conducted at the headquarters of the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington DC and the field offices in Wheeling, West Virginia.
