The measure-unit of evolution

Biosystems, 1976
A theoretical study on evolution has been carried out, with the aim of disproving some value judgements essentially represented by the idea that the degree of evolution can increase. Our conclusions are based upon the preliminary statement that efficiency of survival is directly related to regulative ability.

Units and Measurement

2015
This chapter provides an introduction to units, measurements and uncertainties, with an integrated approach to how we represent numbers on computers in physics. The standardized (SI) units are introduced. Scientific representation and the significant digits are introduced.

New Units for the Measurement of Radioactivity

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1946
It has become the custom to express the strength of radioactive sources in terms of curies. This is an erroneous use of this unit since by original definition the curie is that “amount of radon in equilibrium with one gram of radium”* as defined by the Radiology Congress in Brussels in 1910.

Units of Measure

2014
Units of measure is the language of home energy information. We talk about our energy consumption in terms of specific units used to measure the consumption. Measuring is a vital part of the home energy information cycle. It is what guides us toward the actions we need to take in order to conserve energy and protect the environment.

Standardizing Units of Measurements

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1976
Quantitative measurements are indispensable in the conduct of science. This is as true for medicine as it is for chemistry or physics. The close interrelationships between the many branches of science and the international character of science and medicine require that a single, worldwide system of measurements be employed.

A Realization of Measurement Unit for Phasor Measurement Unit Based on DSP

2012 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2012
Abstract-The measurement unit has a direct influence on effectiveness and accuracy for phasor measurement unit's measurement result. The article design a measurement unit of phasor measurement unit by use the DSP chip as main processor. The unit adopt DFT phasor measurement algorithm.

SI units in radiation measurement [PDF]

open access: possibleThe British Journal of Radiology, 1972
In October 1971, the Council of the European Community ratified a directive on units and measurements (EEC, 1971) which provides for the exclusive use by January 1, 1978 of a prescribed system of metric units. This system is firmly based on the International System (SI) as agreed by the General Conference of Weights and Measures, and its strict ...

SynchroWaveform Measurement Units and Applications

IEEE Power & Energy Society General Meeting, 2019
Power quality monitors have evolved considerably throughout the years, following the development trends on computer technologies and data storage/transfer systems. They started as chart recorders and analog meters, progressed to stand alone digital power
