Applications of voltage and current unity gain cells in nodal admittance matrix expansion

IEEE Circuits and Systems Magazine, 2009
The Nodal Admittance Matrix (NAM) expansion method based on nullor elements and pathological mirror elements is used to provide a systematic synthesis method of controlled sources. Two new NAM expansions for the Voltage Controlled Voltage Source (VCVS) are introduced.

Generalized gyrator implementation techniques using unity-gain cells

International Journal of Electronics, 2001
All possible gyrator circuits using the minimum number of voltage and current unity-gain cells are extracted, as a result of generalizing the unity gains, such that a unity gain can be + 1 or −1. Since second-generation current conveyors (CCIIs), possessing both voltage and current unity-gain cells, are very suitable for such gyrators, it is shown that

White Box Model of Feasible Solutions of Unity Gain Cells

2014 13th Mexican International Conference on Artificial Intelligence, 2014
Equations or symbolic models of analog circuits increase designers' quantitative and qualitative understanding of a circuit, leading to a better decision-making. In this work symbolic regression is defined as white-box modeling, as opposed to other, more opaque, modeling types.

Single resistance controlled oscillator using unity gain cells

Microelectronics Reliability, 2005
A new variable frequency oscillator using unity gain cells is proposed whose frequency and gain controllability is provided by resistive elements. The oscillator can operate as an active-R system and it is suitable for fully integrated fabrication. Measurement results are also included that confirm the high proposed structure capabilities.

Designing SRCOs by symbolic-behavioral-modeling of unity-gain cells

2007 14th IEEE International Conference on Electronics, Circuits and Systems, 2007
A high-level design approach for single-resistance- controlled-oscillators (SRCOs) is introduced by applying symbolic analysis to derive behavioral models of unity-gain cells, e.g. current and voltage followers. The followers are designed by using standard CMOS technology of 0.35 mum and their behavior is approached by a first-order fully-symbolic ...

Quadrature variable frequency oscillators with unity gain cells

2003 46th Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2006
Two sinusoidal oscillating structures using unity gain cells and whose controllability is provided by resistive elements are presented in this paper. In both schemes the external capacitances are grounded, thus permitting a frequency range enhancement.

Non-sorting genetic algorithm in the optimization of unity-gain cells

2009 6th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Computing Science and Automatic Control (CCE), 2009
An optimization system based on the multi-objective evolutionary technique NSGA-II is presented to automatically size unity-gain cells, namely: voltage and current followers, and voltage and current mirrors. These unity-gain cells are optimized in three performance objectives: gain, bandwidth and offset.

Novel universal current-mode filters using unity-gain cells

International Journal of Electronics, 2001
Two novel universal current-mode filters using unity-gain current followers (CFs) and voltage followers (VFs) are presented. The first one, employing three CFs, one VF, two grounded capacitors and two resistors, has two inputs and three outputs. The second one, employing only two CFs, one VF, two grounded capacitors and two resistors, has four inputs ...

New universal biquad filters using only two unity-gain cells

International Journal of Electronics, 2000
New current-mode and voltage-mode universal biquad filters are presented using only two unity-gain cells (one current follower and one voltage follower) in each configuration. The proposed filters employ one less follower than in the literature to date. The filters can realize highpass, bandpass, lowpass, notch and allpass responses without any changes

New Single-Resistance-Controlled Oscillator Configurations Using Unity-Gain Cells

Analog Integrated Circuits and Signal Processing, 2005
Unity-gain voltage followers and unity-gain current followers have attracted attention in the recent literature in the context of analog signal processing as well as signal generation because of the advantages of wider bandwidth and low power consumption of these active elements as compared to other more complex building blocks.
