Room Temperature Calcium‐Ion Battery Enabled by Calcium Citrate as a Calcium Salt

open access: yesBattery Energy, EarlyView.
Tricalcium dicitrate tetrahydrate (Ca‐citrate) salt was used as a salt in a Ca‐ion battery and showed marked improvement in ionic conductivity (up to 2.6 × 10−1 S/cm) and electrochemical stability (~6 V). The PEG‐modified electrolyte achieved a stability window of ~4 V with a charge/discharge capacity of ~198 mAh/g.

Gold‐Mediated Base Pairs in Nucleic Acids: Selective Coordination to Natural and Thiocarbonyl‐Modified Cytosines Dependent upon the Oxidation State of Gold

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
Selective coordination of gold ions to mismatched cytosines in nucleic acid duplexes is achieved via oxidation‐state‐dependent interactions. While Au(I) binds to natural cytosine–cytosine pairs, cytosine thiolation promotes square‐planar coordination with Au(III), offering a structure‐guided approach to redox‐tunable nucleic acid architectures.

Cobalamin‐Dependent Aryl Methyl Ether O‐Demethylases: Promising Enzymes for Biocatalytic Applications from Lignin Valorization to Organic Synthesis

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
Cobalamin‐dependent aryl methyl ether O‐demethylases have high potential for biocatalytic applications, including lignin valorization and synthetic chemistry. In this review, we provide a detailed overview of such O‐demethylase systems identified to date from various microorganisms, including their mechanism, substrate scope and selectivity, and ...

Two‐Step Synthesis of 2,5‐Furandicarboxylic Acid Through Biomass‐Derived 5‐(Hydroxymethyl)furfural in a Green Isopropanol–Water Solvent System

open access: yesChemCatChem, EarlyView.
This work introduces a green catalytic route for producing FDCA from whey permeate powder using an isopropanolwater solvent and a reusable CuFeO catalyst. The process converts dairy waste into valuable bio‐based monomers through sequential HMF formation and oxidation, offering an efficient, sustainable pathway for renewable materials production ...
