Additive Manufacturing of Continuous Fibre Reinforced Composites: Process, Characterisation, Modelling, and Sustainability

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing provides precise control over the placement of continuous fibres within polymer matrices, enabling customised mechanical performance in composite components. This article explores processing strategies, mechanical testing, and modelling approaches for additive manufactured continuous fibre‐reinforced composites.

Parameter Variation in Planetary Ball Milling of Titanium Aluminide Powder in XHV‐Adequate Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the effects of milling parameters, including rotational speed, milling duration, and ball‐to‐powder ratio, on TiAl particle size and morphology in an XHV‐equivalent atmosphere. The creation of oxide‐free surfaces enhances the mechanical properties of green bodies.

Bioinspired Shape‐Memory Hook Fasteners With Programmable Interlocking and Silent Release

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Bioinspired hook fasteners made from epoxy shape‐memory polymers are shown to switch between strong, secure attachment and gentle, silent release when heated. By combining programmable geometry and material response, these adaptive fasteners outperform commercial systems in strength and noise control, enabling new solutions for robotics, medical ...

Studies on fatigue behaviour of weld-bonds of Al-Mn-Mg alloy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In the present paper, fatigue and metallurgical behaviour of weld-bonds and adhesive bonds developed using 2 mm thick aluminium alloys namely 5052 alloy have been reported. Weld-bonds were prepared using structural adhesive (Epoxy resin) and spot welding

Copper Nanocrystallization in Anodic Oxide Films of Ti–Cu‐Based Bulk Metallic Glass and Its Effect on the Corrosion Resistance and Cytocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Viktoriia Shtefan, Thorgund Nemec, Ute Hempel, Annett Gebert and coworkers demonstrate that anodic treatment of Ti–Cu‐based metallic glass in a nontoxic pyrophosphate electrolyte forms a protective bilayered Ti/Zr‐oxide film enriched with Cu nanocrystals.

Reactive Systems over Cospans

open access: yes, 2005
The theory of reactive systems, introduced by Leifer and Milner and previously extended by the authors, allows the derivation of well-behaved labelled transition systems (LTS) for semantic models with an underlying reduction semantics.

Correlation between Sub-Tg relaxation processes and mechanical behavior for different hydrothermal ageing conditions in epoxy assemblies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The aim of this study is to understand aging phenomena by monitoring physical parameters after real and simulated aging experiments. This study focuses on aluminum-epoxy assemblies, which are commonly used on spacecraft structures.

Natural Bone‐Derived Ceramic Scaffolds Functionalized with Chitosan‐Gold, Chitosan‐Magnesium, and Chitosan‐Zinc for Enhanced Antibacterial Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the development of antibacterial ceramic scaffolds derived from natural bovine bone. The bones were processed through sequential boiling and hydrogen peroxide treatment to remove organic matter, producing porous, mineral‐rich scaffolds.

The Influence of Application Protocol of Simplified and Universal Adhesives on the Dentin Bonding Performance

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Contemporary adhesives use etch-and-rinse, self-etch, and multimode adhesive strategies. Simplified and universal adhesives present lower bond strength to dentin than conventional, two-bottle etch-and-rinse adhesives.

Bonding with Self-etching Primers – Pumice or Pre-etch? An \u3cem\u3ein vitro\u3c/em\u3e Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The purpose of this study was to compare the shear bond strengths (SBSs) of orthodontic brackets bonded with self-etching primer (SEP) using different enamel surface preparations. A two-by-two factorial study design was used.
