Using the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) for the assessment of bioclimatic conditions in Russia

International Journal of Biometeorology, 2020
The impact of climatic conditions on human beings can be assessed using bioclimatic indices. In this study, the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) was applied to assess the bioclimate in Russia. Seasonal features, region-specific features, and extreme values of the UTCI were considered in the climatic conditions of 2001-2015.

Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI): a Challenge for the Thermal Environment Assessment

2011
Bioclimatic indices, primarily devoted to the weather forecasts, in some cases are also used for the indoor thermal environment assessment with a consequent underestimation of both comfort and stress situations. The reason are: a) an empirical formulation; b) the need to collapse in few measurements and calculations the complexity of the physiological ...

Predicting outdoor thermal sensation from two field studies in Curitiba, Brazil and Glasgow, UK using the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI)

2012
We present a comparative analysis of outdoor human thermal sensation against predictions with the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI) for two sets of data collected in Curitiba, Brazil (subtropical climate in elevation) and in Glasgow, UK (maritime temperate climate).
