Universal human rights: the rhetoric but not the reality
The United Nations faces an uphill battle in its bid to secure the universal realisation of human rights. At present, the universal pledges of the United Nations core human rights treaties are not, as yet, a universal reality: millions the world over ...

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Inferences in context : contextualism, inferentialism and the concept of universal quantification
This Thesis addresses issues that lie at the intersection of two broad philosophical projects: inferentialism and contextualism. It discusses and defends an account of the logical concepts based on the following two ideas: 1) that the logical concepts ...

We develop a data‐driven method to derive the mathematical expressions of the Flory–Huggins interaction parameter χ for the swelling behavior of temperature–responsive hydrogels. Starting from initial assumptions of χ, our workflow combines Bayesian optimization, Flory–Rehner theory, and symbolic regression to generate candidate χ expressions.

Fatigue Crack Initiation and Growth in Nanocrystalline Ni at Multiple Length‐Scales
Overview of miniaturized in situ SEM fatigue setup and resultant fatigue crack growth data for nanocrystalline Ni. The presented study focuses on the analysis of fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) in focused ion beam‐notched microcantilevers prepared from nanocrystalline (NC) Ni as a model material.
