Catalyst‐Directed Selectivity in Vinylcarbene Reactions: A Comparative Study of Ag, Rh, and Cu Complexes

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
This study reveals that ligand stereoelectronic effects, rather than vinylogous electrophilicity, govern selectivity in Ag‐, Rh‐, and Cu‐catalyzed vinylcarbene C(sp3)H insertions. These insights guide the design of more selective catalysts for CH functionalization.

Gold‐Catalyzed Synthesis of Fluorenones via Intramolecular C–H Arylation

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
Starting from 2‐diazobenzophenones, a straightforward synthesis of valuable fluorenones via a gold‐catalyzed one‐pot oxidation, C–H activation, and cyclization is described. The addition of ascorbic acid, the correct selection of the counteranion of the 2‐diazobenzophenones, and the use of terpyridine as an auxiliary ligand are crucial for the reaction

Life Cycle Assessment of Magnesium‐Impregnated Biochar Production and its Application for Nutrient Removal and Soil Improvement in Rice Cultivation

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the environmental trade‐offs of different rice husk management strategies using a life cycle assessment (LCA) approach. It compares biochar production for water treatment and soil improvement with direct incineration for energy generation.

Microwave‐Assisted One‐Pot Synthesis of Alkyl Levulinates From Post‐Harvest Vegetable Waste

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
Vegetable waste is valorized through Soxhlet extraction using H₂O₂ and heteropolyacid (HPA), followed by material characterization (XRD, FTIR, TGA, DSC). A microwave‐assisted reaction at 170 °C for 30 min with HPA and alcohol yields bio‐based esters.

Enhanced Oxygen Evolution Reaction Performance of Niobium–Cobalt Oxide Catalysts in Acidic and Alkaline Media

open access: yesAdvanced Sustainable Systems, EarlyView.
The electronic modulation of Nb‐doped Co3O4 catalyst showcases enhanced activity and extended stability for OER in both alkaline (1M KOH) and acidic (0.5M H2SO4) electrolytes. The higher activity emanated from the synergistic effect between the Nb5+ dopant and Co3O4.
