Summary Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) contribute to plant nutrient and water uptake via their extraradical hyphal networks. However, in situ methodologies to quantify architectural and morphological traits of these networks in soil are largely lacking, limiting our understanding of AMF‐mediated resource transport.

Agricultural inputs unevenly boost crop yields but consistently reduce biodiversity on Mount Kilimanjaro

Crop productivity on Mount Kilimanjaro is shaped by interactions among climate, human capital and biodiversity. Labour capital strongly increased crop yields, whereas physical capital, particularly agrochemical inputs, reduced biodiversity without increasing yields.
