Arc Heat Flow and Magmatic Heat Budgets

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 64, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract We evaluate hydrothermal heat loss from 11 volcanic‐arc segments (∼6,000 km of arc length, ∼10% of the global total), motivated by the observation that much magmatic heat ultimately crosses the land surface as heated aqueous fluid. Heat loss takes place by volcanic eruption, geothermal heat conduction to the surface, fumarolic (vapor ...

Modelling Maternal Cytomegalovirus Seroprevalence in Australia Using Maternal Country of Birth: Implications for Antenatal Screening

open access: yesAustralian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Volume 66, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is the most common congenital infection and a leading preventable cause of neurodevelopmental disability. Contemporary maternal CMV seroprevalence estimates are needed to inform antenatal screening policy in Australia.

Topology‐Dependent Coke Formation in the Catalytic Pyrolysis of Phenol Over HFAU and HZSM‐5 Zeolites

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 138, Issue 20, 11 May 2026.
The coke formation and speciation during the catalytic pyrolysis of lignin over different zeolite topologies were studied with a combination of operando EPR spectroscopy and ex situ pulsed techniques aided with DFT calculations. Operando EPR data showed that the coke formation in HFAU is fast compared to HZSM‐5.

Evaluating Trans‐Fatty Acids Labelling in Packaged Foods Sold in Brazil Before and After National Policy Changes

open access: yesJournal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Volume 39, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction The elimination of industrial trans‐fatty acids (i‐TFA) is a global public health priority. In Brazil, food regulatory changes were implemented in 2012, limiting the use of TFA‐free claims and in 2019, restricting i‐TFA content in food. This study analysed i‐TFA declarations on labels of packaged foods sold in Brazil in 2010, 2013

Factors Associated With the Emergence and Spread of Visceral Leishmaniasis in the State of São Paulo, Brazil

open access: yesZoonoses and Public Health, Volume 73, Issue 4, Page 348-357, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Visceral leishmaniasis (VL), once considered a rural disease in Brazil, has progressively urbanised, particularly in the state of São Paulo (SSP), where the first urban cases emerged after the detection of the vector Lutzomyia longipalpis in 1997.

Assessing the Role of Tropical Cyclones on Drought Characteristics in the Hurricane Region of the Americas Between 1983 and 2024

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 9, 16 May 2026.
Abstract Droughts and tropical cyclones (TCs) are among the deadliest and costliest natural hazards and are expected to intensify in the twenty‐first century due to anthropogenic climate change. The Hurricane Region of the Americas (HRA), an area frequently affected by TCs and droughts, is home to some of the most vulnerable countries to these hazards ...
