Operational Considerations for Teaming Manned and Unmanned Helicopter

Journal of Intelligent & Robotic Systems, 2012
"Manned-Unmanned Teaming" among others refers to the use of an unmanned, flying sensor. One use for this is as an integral part of air units' flying systems. Secondly, it can be used as an independent, recessed robotic component during missions, even from far away and ahead of time.

Modeling and Tracking Control of Unmanned Helicopter

2020 IEEE 6th International Conference on Control Science and Systems Engineering (ICCSSE), 2020
In path tracking control systems of unmanned helicopters, it is essential to have high-performance controllers. Currently many design methods for tracking controllers have general control effects, but it is difficult to provide theoretical and practical basis for real unmanned helicopter tracking control systems.

Model Identification of an Unmanned Helicopter Using ELSSVM

2013
The dynamic model of unmanned helicopter is a coupled nonlinear system. With respect to the identification problem for this model, extended least squares support vector machine (ELSSVM) is proposed. ELSSVM extends the solution space of structure parameters to improve the convergence performance.

Flight model for unmanned simulated helicopters

Journal of Aircraft, 1992
This paper presents a flight model for use in simulating computer generated helicopters. Momentum and energy balance is used to define a rotor thrust envelope. The four basic control inputs take the form of thrust components and the sideslip angle. Time integrations are performed for the three center of mass degrees of freedom only.

The Research on Visual Flight Simulation for Unmanned Helicopter

2012
Unlike traditional flight simulation of unmanned helicopter usually only presenting curve pattern, this paper introduces two kinds of visual flight simulation based on dynamic model. The dynamical model of unmanned helicopter is built by eight parts which consists of main rotor, tail rotor, fuselage, vertical fin, rigid-body dynamics, the angular ...

Search and Rescue Operations with an Unmanned Helicopter

International Journal of Remote Sensing Applications, 2016
We tested the performance of both electro-optical (EO) and long-wave infrared (LWIR) video sensors on an unmanned helicopter in a simulated Search and Rescue (SAR) setting. Our objectives were to examine whether humans and other objects associated with (SAR) operations could be reliably observed in the video sensor imagery in direct light and shade ...

Vision aided navigation for unmanned helicopters

2009 17th Mediterranean Conference on Control and Automation, 2009
The development of a vision system to aid the autonomous navigation of an unmanned helicopter, primarily based on inertial sensors and GPS data, is presented. An unmanned helicopter has been equipped with appropriate sensors and a vision system fitted on a custom pan-tilt mechanism.

Zonotopic Reachability Analysis for an Unmanned Helicopter

2019 19th International Conference on Control, Automation and Systems (ICCAS), 2019
This paper presents a zonotopic reachability analysis for an unmanned helicopter, which is modeled as a linear time-invariant system and is stabilized using a linear quadratic controller. The reachability analysis is applied to determine future states of the helicopter flying under clean and icing conditions.

Neuro-optimal control of an unmanned helicopter

The Journal of Defense Modeling and Simulation: Applications, Methodology, Technology, 2012
Helicopter unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) can be extensively used for military missions as well as in civil operations, ranging from multi-role combat support and search and rescue, to border surveillance and forest fire monitoring. Helicopter UAVs are underactuated nonlinear mechanical systems with correspondingly challenging controller designs. This

Flight Simulation Testbed of Unmanned Helicopter

2009 Second International Symposium on Information Science and Engineering, 2009
This paper designed a flight simulation testbed of unmanned helicopter. This testbed has the advantage of simple structure, easy implement, low cost, convenient movement and so on. It is suitable for various flight test of mini-unmanned helicopter. It provides attitude needed by unmanned helicopter, such as pitch, yaw, roll and so on, to ensure that ...
