Alimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.In a retrospective cohort of 1,624 adults with cirrhosis, sarcopenia was independently associated with unplanned hospitalization, death, and cirrhosis progression (or death) in patients with decompensated disease. In compensated cirrhosis, sarcopenia was associated only with a higher risk of unplanned hospitalization.
