Taxonomic Study of Indigenous Lachancea Species (Saccharomycetaceae, Saccharomycetales) and Description of Three Unrecorded Yeast Species in Korea

open access: yes한국균학회지
The genus Lachancea holds significant potential for industrial applications in fermentation due to its high sugar tolerance. Globally, 11 species of Lachancea have been identified, with only one species previously reported in Korea.

Moth Fauna of Gageodo Island in the Southwestern Sea, Korean Peninsula, including Seven Unrecorded Species (Lepidoptera)

open access: yesAnimal Systematics, Evolution and Diversity, 2015
We surveyed moths on Gageodo island in the southwestern sea of the Korean Peninsula over three years (2009, 2012, 2013) and found a total of 253 species in 18 families. Geometridae had the greatest species richness, with 63 species, followed by Noctuidae,

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Erioscyphella abnormis (Lachnaceae: Ascomycota), an unrecorded species in Korea

open access: yesJournal of Asia-Pacific Biodiversity, 2021
In the course of the mycofloristic survey, the authors collected an ascomycetous mushroom with a small yellow disc covered with brownish hairs. The morphological and molecular identifications showed that this fungus is Erioscyphella abnormis, which has ...
