New Therapies for Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysms
Neurologic Clinics, 2013The concept of flow diversion is based on placing a stent across the neck of an intracranial aneurysm, which then results in flow away from the aneurysm, inducing thrombosis and occlusion of the aneurysm over time. Modern flow diverters, such as the Pipeline embolization device, are currently used for unruptured anterior circulation aneurysm.

Unruptured intracranial aneurysms in elderly patients
Surgical Neurology, 1992A total of 556 patients with 769 intracranial aneurysms, of which 256 were unruptured and 513 were ruptured, were included in the present study. The patients were divided into three age groups: those aged 59 years or younger, those aged 60 to 69 years, and those aged 70 years or older. Small aneurysms of 4 mm or less in diameter were more common in the

Unruptured intracranial aneurysms: a review
Journal of Neurosurgery, 2002Object. In this article, pathological, radiological, and clinical information regarding unruptured intracranial aneurysms is reviewed. Methods. Treatment decisions require that surgeons and interventionists take into account information obtained in pathological, radiological, and clinical studies of unruptured aneurysms.

Unruptured intracranial aneurysms in haemodialysis patients
Nephrology, 2003SUMMARY: While the mortality rate of subarachnoid haemorrhage is very high in haemodialysis (HD) patients, the prevalence of unruptured intracranial aneurysms in HD patients has not yet been elucidated. We performed cerebral magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) on 123 HD patients who did not have symptomatic cerebrovascular disease, and on 52 control ...

Risk perception of unruptured intracranial aneurysms
Acta Neurochirurgica, 2013Recent prospective studies have shown that the rupture rate of small unruptured intracranial aneurysms is very low. However, awareness of harboring an aneurysm often provokes anxiety and depression, which may reduce the quality of life (QOL).This cross-sectional study enrolled 52 patients who had previously been notified of the presence of untreated ...

Observed rupture of unruptured intracranial aneurysms
British Journal of Neurosurgery, 2019Aim: To study the aneurysms where pre and post-rupture imaging was available to determine the impact of rupture on morphology and size of the aneurysm. Methods: A retrospective case series where all cases of ruptured aneurysms over a 5-year period were evaluated and cases identified where pre and post rupture imaging was available.

[Management of unruptured intracranial aneurysms].
Ugeskrift for laeger, 2019This review aims at summarising, whether unruptured intracranial aneurysms (UIAs) should be managed by immediate closure or surveillance imaging. If small UIAs should receive immediate closure might be up for a paradigm shift. The most fatal consequence of a UIA is rupture, as it carries a high mortality and morbidity.

[Unruptured intracranial aneurysms].
Der Nervenarzt, 2012The incidental discovery of an asymptomatic intracranial arterial aneurysm is no longer uncommon. It can change a person's life. Decision-making should be guided by a thorough comparison of the risks associated with the natural course and with microsurgical or endovascular intervention.

Surgical treatment of unruptured intracranial aneurysms
Acta Neurochirurgica, 1982The author has reviewed a series of 19 patients with unruptured aneurysms treated surgically during a 5-year period from 1976 to 1981. Unruptured aneurysms found in patients with multiple aneurysms and subarachnoid haemorrhage due to ruptured aneurysms are not included in this series. Literature on this subject is reviewed.
