Comparison of Six Methods To Determine Unsaturated Soil Hydraulic Conductivity
Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1994Abstract Knowledge of soil hydraulic properties is required for soil‐water flow models. Although many studies of individual methods exist, comparisons of methods are uncommon. Therefore, we compared application ranges and results for six laboratory methods for determining hydraulic conductivity or diffusivity on eolian sand, eolian ...

Calculating the Unsaturated Hydraulic Conductivity and Diffusivity
Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1976Abstract The methods of R. D. Jackson and R. H. Brooks and A. T. Corey for calculating the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity from water content‐pressure head relationships are compared. The corresponding diffusivity relationships can also be evaluated either by a numerical differentiation of the water content‐pressure head curves ...

Simple Field Method for Determining Unsaturated Hydraulic Conductivity
Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1991Abstract A new method is proposed for determining in situ unsaturated hydraulic conductivities from unsaturated infiltration measurements made at several tensions on the same infiltration surface. Wooding's equation for steady‐state unconfined infiltration rates is used in calculating hydraulic conductivities. Hydraulic conductivities

Unsaturated Hydraulic Conductivity from Cumulative Inflow Data
Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1974Abstract A method of determining the wetting‐phase unsaturated hydraulic conductivity K(θ) from the data of cumulative inflow into a uniform soil core when water enters through a porous plate of high hydraulic resistance is described and evaluated.

Unsaturated hydraulic conductivity from nuclear magnetic resonance measurements
Water Resources Research, 2006Gravity‐driven drainage of water from a column of glass beads of uniform size is studied using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The evolution of proton magnetization and its spin‐spin relaxation time is measured as a function of drainage time at different locations within the column.

Unsaturated Hydraulic Conductivity of Compacted Sand-Kaolin Mixtures
Journal of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Engineering, 1998The unsaturated hydraulic conductivity of compacted sand-kaolin mixtures containing 0, 5, 10, and 30 kaolin (by dry weight) is measured for matric suctions ...

Unsaturated Hydraulic Conductivity for Upward Flow in Soil
Unsaturated Soils 2006, 2006A method for direct measurement of hydraulic conductivity of unsaturated soil is presented. The method is based on a system of capillary flow from a controlled water table up into a soil column in initially air-dry condition. By measurement of change in soil water content at a known vertical position from the water table, together with a prepared soil ...

Unsaturated hydraulic conductivity in porous media: Percolation theory
Geoderma, 2012Abstract The unsaturated hydraulic conductivity is an important property of porous media whose estimation is still investigated. In this study, we developed a new unsaturated hydraulic conductivity model from applying percolation theory to the pore–solid fractal approach (PSF).

A Simple Method for Measuring Unsaturated Hydraulic Conductivity
Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 1990A simple method is described which can be used to measure the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity of soils in a short time. The method is based on measurement of water absorption rate under controlled tensions. The results of this method are compared with those evaluated by the Brooks-Corey method, emitter method, and small increments of pressure change

Unsaturated Hydraulic Conductivity of Two Compacted Barrier Soils
Journal of Geotechnical Engineering, 1996Unsaturated hydraulic conductivities were measured in the laboratory and the field for two compacted fine-grained soils used as barrier layers in landfill final covers. The instantaneous profile method was used for the laboratory and field measurements.
