Reviews of Geophysics, 1983
The following summary covers research by United States's scientists published in journals during the nominal period 1979 to 1982, inclusive. Much excellent work published in the same journals by scientists from other countries has been passed over. The last half year 1982 could not be covered due to publication deadlines.

Unsaturated Soil Hydraulic Properties
2016In the first part of this chapter, the tension infiltrometer (TI) technique is illustrated. After having described apparatus and instruments as well as the operative procedures in the field, the solutions based on the Wooding’s equation for steady-state flow are presented.

Numerical simulation of unsaturated soil behaviour
International Journal of Computer Applications in Technology, 2009The mechanical behaviour of unsaturated soils is one of the challenging topics in the field of geotechnical engineering. The use of finite element techniques is considered to be a promising method to solve settlement and heave problems, which are associated with unsaturated soil. Nevertheless, the success of the numerical analysis is strongly dependent

Ozonation of pentachlorophenol in unsaturated soils
Journal of Contaminant Hydrology, 2008A heterogeneous model was developed to describe interactions between ozone and hydrophobic organic compounds, exemplified by pentachlorophenol, in highly gas-saturated vadose zones where water moisture was limited to a thin film on soil particle surfaces. The soil was assumed to be free of soil organic matter.

Unsaturated Soils: Research and Applications
2012The Volume 2 contain the proceedings of the Second European Conference on Unsaturated Soils, E-UNSAT 2012, held in Napoli, Italy, in June 2012. The event is the second of a series of European conferences, born on initiative of the researchers involved in the EU FP6 MUSE – Mechanics of Unsaturated Soils for Engineering – Research and Training Network ...

Anisotropy of Unsaturated Soils
Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1984Abstract A conceptual model is applied for quantitative evaluation of the anisotropy factor during desaturation. The soil is assumed to consist of many thin parallel layers having different hydraulic properties. A uniform density distribution function is used to represent the saturated hydraulic conductivity probability of the various

Water in soil usually fills soil pores only partially, therefore soil unsaturated with water is the prevailing state of soil. The soil unsaturated with water is a necessary condition for the majority of the plants that grow in the environmental conditions of Europe.

Pesticide Leaching through Heterogeneous Unsaturated Soils
1990Pesticide screening models used to assess e.g. the leaching hazard to groundwater usually require mean flow velocities (v) and retardation factors (R) for input. However, it is well known that both v and R are usually spatially variable.
