Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

Mg Substitution Improves the Surface Stability of High‐Voltage Spinel Cathodes under Accelerated Aging Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 lithium‐ion battery cathodes exhibit poor cycling stability due to surface reconstruction and electrolyte degradation at high voltage. This work demonstrates that partial Ni substitution with Mg prevents surface reconstruction and creates a corrosion‐resistant surface layer during the early stages of cycling, hence reducing electrolyte ...

Multistep nucleation and growth mechanisms of organic crystals from amorphous solid states

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Little attention has been paid to the fundamental mechanism of molecular self-assembly into crystallised films or wires on surfaces. Here the authors use real time in-situ scanning probe microscopy to monitor the growth trajectories of organic ...

Machine Learning‐Enabled Polymer Discovery for Enhanced Pulmonary siRNA Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study provides an efficient approach to train a machine learning model by merging heterogeneous literature data to predict suitable polymers for siRNA delivery. Without the need for extensive laboratory synthesis, the machine learning enabled a virtual screening and successfully predicted a polymer that is validated for effective gene silencing in

Direct observation of single-molecule hydrogen-bond dynamics with single-bond resolution

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
Hydrogen-bonds are widely found in many systems, such as DNAs and supramolecular assemblies, but it remains challenging to detect their dynamics at a molecular level. Here, Zhou et al.
