Different eGFR markers and prediction of cardiovascular risk

open access: yesJournal of Internal Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Renal dysfunction increases cardiovascular (CV) risk. We compared cystatin C‐based estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFRcys), creatinine‐based eGFR (eGFRcr), and their ratio (eGFRcys/eGFRcr) in relation to major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) and all‐cause mortality in chronic coronary syndrome, assessing the added ...

Intensive versus standard dose statin therapy: the costs and benefits for patients with acute coronary syndrome [PDF]

open access: yes
Introduction: Recent NICE guidance in England and Wales states that statin therapy for secondary CVD should "usually be initiated with a drug with a low acquisition cost (taking into account required daily dose and product price per dose)".

Evaluation of Role of C-Reactive Protein Level on Cardiovascular Events During 14 Days after Admission of Patients with Unstable Angina in the Ekbatan Hospital, Hamadan, 2002

open access: yesپزشکی بالینی ابن سینا, 2007
Introduction & Objective: Unstable angina is in the center of spectrum from chronic stable angina to acute myocardial infarction. Due to high prevalence of unstable angina, it is important to find a factor that predicts prognosis and management modality.

Severe Periodontitis is Associated With Recurrent Cardiovascular Events—A 10‐Year Longitudinal Cohort Study

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
One thousand and two patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD) were observed over 10 years. Data were collected from 792 study participants. Severe periodontitis proved to be an independent risk factor for new cardiovascular events. Tooth brushing more than once a day and performing interdental hygiene were associated with decreased risk.

Platelets of unstable angina patients as effector cells in terahertz radiation at NO frequency

open access: yesКардиоваскулярная терапия и профилактика, 2005
Aim. To investigate the effects of electromagnetic terahertz waves at NO MSIP (molecular specter of radiation and absorption), 240 Hz, on platelet functional activity Р in natural electromagnetic field, as well as in crossed magnetic and electric fields ...
