Abstract The Ajay River, originating from the Chotanagpur Plateau (Bihar) and flowing through Jharkhand into West Bengal before merging with the Bhagirathi‐Hugli near Katwa, is among the most flood‐prone rivers in the region. Its lower reaches frequently experience rainfall‐induced flooding and embankment breaches during the mid‐ to late‐monsoon season.

Laboratory Study of the Dynamics of a Pollutant Within a City Block During Urban Flooding
Abstract During urban flooding, pollutants from point releases (e.g., sewer overflows) transported in street runoff can invade city blocks, exposing residents to contamination risks. The present laboratory study focuses on the intrusion of pollutants from flooded streets into a porous city block under steady flow conditions.

Abstract Bedload transport widely occurs in natural environments and encompasses flow regimes from saltation to sheet‐flow, with markedly different fluid‐particle interaction characteristics. Understanding these mechanisms requires a numerical tool capable of capturing both the turbulence and fluid‐particle interactions, for which challenges exist due ...

A Numerical Study on the Motion of Snow Aggregates Freely Falling in Air
Abstract This paper reports the results of the first quantitative study on the flow fields of freely falling snow aggregates. The motions are investigated by performing numerical simulations of four snow aggregate models consisting of 2, 3, 4, and 5 conformally shaped dendrites of different sizes.

ABSTRACT In this contribution, we focus on the Reynolds‐averaged Navier‐Stokes (RANS) models and their exploitation to build reliable reduced‐order models to further accelerate predictions for real‐time applications and many‐query scenarios. Specifically, we investigate how machine learning can be employed to enhance the predictive capabilities of the ...

Hierarchical simulations of diffusion in zeolites [PDF]
The work presented in this chapter involves comparison of simulation and experimental results for intracrystalline and long-range diffusion in zeolitic media in order to demonstrate the hierarchical character of the study of transport in microporous ...

The study of non-Newtonian dusty fluids is important due to their applications in cooling systems, nuclear reactors, polymer processing, and particulate transport; however, unsteady two-phase Casson dusty fluid flow in porous channels under the combined ...

Restricted gas diffusion in a unique porous medium — human lung [PDF]
Restricted diffusion of gas in the lung is in many ways similar to restricted diffusion in other porous media: atomic collisions with boundaries restrict the measured value, and there is a critical dependence on the time and distance scales of the ...
