A Numerical Investigation of the Effects of Piston Bowl Geometry and Spray Angle on Combustion, Performance and Emission of a Diesel Engine

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A piston bowl's design and spray angle improve air‐fuel mixing, resulting in more complete combustion and higher efficiency. Ansys Forte 2023 R1 a CFD software was used to analyze the effects of five combustion chamber geometries of cylinder, modified re‐entrant, re‐entrant, double‐stepped, and stepped on engine performance, combustion, and emission ...

Diffusion welding of nickel-based superalloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Ni based superalloys can be welded by diffusion bonding. Temperature, diffusion coefficient, activation energy and Boltzmann constant influence the quality of diffusion bonding, so obtaining the best condition for welding is considered.

Driven diffusion in nanoscaled materials [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Mass transfer processes in which specific interactions with environments lead to complex diffusion patterns, such as the occurrence of transient sub-diffusive behaviors or of heterogeneous diffusion, were studied by means of two different experimental ...

Topology optimization method for unsteady state incompressible viscous flow based on a level set immersed boundary method

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2019
This paper proposes a novel topology optimization method for unsteady state incompressible Navier-Stokes flow. Many methods of topology optimization for steady state flow have been proposed, whereas most fluid flow problems should be considered as ...

Turbulence‐Intensity Effects on the Aerodynamic Performance of an H‐Type Darrieus Wind Turbine: A URANS Parametric Study

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Turbulence intensity from 1% to 25% was parametrically tested on a three‐bladed H‐type Darrieus rotor across five tip speed ratios (TSRs) using two‐dimensional URANS. The optimal TSR proved the most efficient and most robust operating point simultaneously, with Cp losses capped at 5.8% even at TI = 25%. ABSTRACT The effect of inlet turbulence intensity

Modeling of unsteady aerodynamic loads

open access: yes, 2011
Time-accurate solutions of the Euler or Navier-Stokes equations are still nowadays a computationally expensive approach for applications where a magnitude of parameters has to be investigated. This work focuses on flight dynamics-related studies.

Darcy-Forchheimer flow due to a curved stretching surface with Cattaneo-Christov double diffusion: A numerical study

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2017
This communication addresses the Darcy-Forchheimer flow by an unsteady curved stretching surface. Flow in porous medium is characterized by Darcy-Forchheimer relation. Cattaneo-Christov double diffusion expressions are implemented in modelling.

Study on Fluid Pressure in Tubing, Dynamic Stress in Reservoir, and Fracture Propagation Morphology During Variable‐Rate Hydraulic Fracturing

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Variable‐rate hydraulic fracturing can induce unsteady flow in the tubing, thereby generating fluctuating fluid pressure near the bottom‐hole reservoir. Dynamic stress is generated in the reservoir under the action of fluctuating fluid pressure and propagates as stress waves.

Effective diffusion tensor computed by homogenization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The convergence of the long-time apparent diffusion tensor of diffusion magnetic resonance imaging (dMRI) to the effective diffusion tensor obtained by mathematical homogenization theory was considered for two-compartment geometric models containing non ...
