A Brief Note on Linearized, Unsteady, Supercavitating Flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Three different models for the unsteady fluctuations of a slender cavity in the limit of small reduced frequency are compard with the results of quasi-steady calculations.

Blade loading on tidal turbines for uniform unsteady flow

open access: yes, 2015
An improved characterisation of the unsteady hydrodynamic loads on tidal turbine blades is necessary to enable more reliable predictions of their fatigue life and to avoid premature failures.

EventFlow: Real‐time neuromorphic event‐driven classification of two‐phase boiling flow regimes

open access: yesDroplet, EarlyView.
We present a real‐time flow regime classification framework that integrates neuromorphic event‐driven sensing with deep recurrent neural networks. Unlike traditional frame‐based approaches, our system captures sparse event streams from an event‐based camera, representing only the dynamic brightness changes at the individual pixel level.

Measurements of the unsteady flow field within the stator row of a transonic axial-flow fan. 1: Measurement and analysis technique [PDF]

open access: yes
This two-part paper presents laser anemometer measurements of the unsteady velocity field within the stator row of a transonic axial-flow fan. The objective is to provide additional insight into unsteady blade-row interactions within high speed ...

Resonance‐induced restoration of rock permeability degraded by heavy components of crude oil

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Resonance‐induced changes occur in filtration properties of sedimentary rocks in crude paraffin oil flow under acoustic vibrations. Experimental data on (a) pressure drop; (b) permeability; (c) pressure at the rock inlet; and (d) pressure at the rock outlet are presented.

Unsteady cooperative flow in compression system

open access: yesPropulsion and Power Research, 2012
When there are several bodies with relative motion in a flow field, such as the flow in the compression system of modern aero-engine, the flow field will have certain special features, one of which is that the time-space structure of such multi-bodies ...

An assessment of stress and production rate of sucker rod heat pipes in oil well pumping system

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The sucker rod pumping system is the preferred oil extraction technique. The concept about equipping the hollow vacuum space in solid sucker rods with heat pipe has been scrutinized in terms of stress and oil production evaluation. Abstract The implementation of the heat pipe concept in sucker rods for oil pumping systems negates the requirement for an

Study on Water Entry of a 3D Torpedo Based on the Improved Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics Method

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The water entry of a torpedo is a complex nonlinear problem, involving transient impact, free surface deformation, droplet splashing, and fluid–structure coupling, which poses severe challenges to traditional mesh methods.
