A new drag and lift correlation for spherocylinders from fully resolved Immersed Boundary Method

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Many industrial processes deal with non‐spherical particles, e.g., mineral mining and biomass conversion. It is crucial to understand the particles' hydrodynamics to control and optimize these processes. To extend the current state‐of‐the‐art from arrays of spherical particles to spherocylindrical particles, we performed extensive particle ...

Resolving passive heat transfer and phase‐change heat in cryogenic CO2 deposition (Desublimation) from CO2/N2 mixtures

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract In cryogenic CO2 desublimation systems where phase change dominates both heat transfer and separation, conventional lumped thermal‐resistance treatments embed interfacial latent heat into an overall heat‐transfer coefficient, obscuring how phase‐change heat is partitioned between the gas phase and the coolant and limiting diagnostic insight ...

Study on Criterion of Acoustic Resonant Vibration with Unsteady Fluid Dynamic Force.

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series B, 1998
Ducts containing a tube bundle undergo acoustic resonant vibration. It is considered that the acoustic vibration is a kind of forced vibration by means of Karman vortex. However, it will be more reasonable to think that the vibration is a kind of mutual excited vibration, because fluid dynamic force excites a sound pressure and the sound pressure also ...

Asymmetric Whisker‐Inspired Sensor Pairs for Enhanced Airflow Sensing on Drones

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This work incorporates asymmetric cross‐sections into a whisker‐inspired sensor pair to enhance airflow sensing. By comparing signals between two offset asymmetric whiskers, the system improves flow heading estimation and identifies the presence of fan‐generated wind during quadrotor flight.

Histidine Supplementation Stabilizes Hearing and Vision and Improves Growth in HARS1‐Related Autosomal Recessive Disorder Associated With Usher‐Like Symptoms

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Autosomal recessive HARS1‐related disorder (originally described as Usher syndrome type 3B) caused by a homozygous Y454S variant in the histidyl‐tRNA synthetase gene (HARS1) is characterized by progressive sensorineural hearing and vision loss and respiratory deterioration with risk for sudden death following febrile illnesses.

Radiative Hybrid Nanofluid Flow Over a Porous Riga Surface: A Fuzzy–ANN Modeling Approach

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study proposes a fuzzy–ANN model to investigate the nonlinear thermal transport in a tangent hyperbolic (Tanh) hybrid nanofluid flow past a porous Riga surface, considering the effects of Rosseland diffusion, chemical reactions, and internal volumetric heating.

Numerical Study of MHD Hybrid Nanofluid Flow With Multiple Slip Effects Over a Variable Porous Stretching Surface

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This work discusses the thermal performance of magnetized hybrid nanofluid flow over a variable porous stretchable surface, emphasizing the underlying physical mechanisms governing heat and mass transfer. The Cattaneo–Christov flux model is used in place of Fourier's and Fick's laws to incorporate relaxation effects, ensuring a more realistic ...

Modeling of Unsteady-State Cake Formation on a Fracture in Produced Water Re-Injection Process (PWRI) [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering, 2010
In petroleum production, Produced Water Re-Injection (PWRI) has earned much interest among disposal methods of the produced water. However, presence of the contaminants in the produced waters usually results in formation damage in well bores and their ...
