The problem of the ununited fracture
The American Journal of Surgery, 1940Abstract Ununited fractures can be divided into: (1) those in which there is still some attempt at repair of bone—delayed union; and (2) those which are in a fixed state of physiologic inertia—nonunion. The etiologic factors are local and not systemic.

Surgery for ununited clavicular fracture
Acta Orthopaedica Scandinavica, 1986Twenty-four ununited, primarily conservatively treated clavicular fractures were treated operatively. The follow-up period averaged 3.5 years. In all cases, the primary displacement was at least equal to the clavicular thickness. The subjective outcome was good in 17 cases, satisfactory in six, and poor in one.
