Synchronous upconversion

Optical Society of America Annual Meeting, 1990
The results of experiments with intracavity sum-frequency generation in a synchronously pumped Styryl-9 dye laser will be presented. An average power of 5 mW at 460 nm is generated by intracavity sum-frequency mixing of the 810 nm dye laser pulses and injected 1.06 μm pulses from a continuous wave mode-locked Nd:YAG laser.

Upconversion Nanoparticles

2015
Upconversion is an optical process that converts low energy pump photons to high energy pump photons. Surface-modified upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) are used for several biomedical applications. Compared to quantum dots, organic flurophores, gold nanoparticles, and other bioimaging agents, UCNPs have low toxicity, high photostability, and show ...

Light-driven upconversion fluorescence micromotors

Biosensors and Bioelectronics, 2022
Light-driven micromotors with high spatial resolution are powerful tools for targeted drug delivery and biomedical diagnosis. To combine the function of biosensing, light-driven micromotors have been modified with fluorescence materials such as quantum dots or dyes. However, these fluorescence micromotors are generally driven and excited by ultraviolet

Upconversion multichannel infrared spectrometer

Optics Letters, 2005
A multichannel IR spectrometer using a standard silicon CCD array is demonstrated. Sum frequency generation between an ultrafast optical pulse and a frequency-dispersed IR beam generates a spatially extended optical signal that is collected on a generic CCD video camera.

Infrared upconversion hyperspectral imaging

Optics Letters, 2015
In this Letter, hyperspectral imaging in the mid-IR spectral region is demonstrated based on nonlinear frequency upconversion and subsequent imaging using a standard Si-based CCD camera. A series of upconverted images are acquired with different phase match conditions for the nonlinear frequency conversion process.

Upconversion Nanoparticle-Mediated Optogenetics

2021
Upconversion nanoparticle-mediated optogenetics enables remote delivery of upconverted visible light from a near-infrared light source to targeted neurons or areas, with the precision of a pulse of laser light in vivo for effective deep-tissue neuromodulation.

Materials Integrating Photochemical Upconversion

Topics in Current Chemistry, 2016
This review features recent experimental work focused on the preparation and characterization of materials that integrate photochemical upconversion derived from sensitized triplet-triplet annihilation, resulting in the conversion of low energy photons to higher energy light, thereby enabling numerous wavelength-shifting applications.

Entropically Driven Photochemical Upconversion

The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2011
Conventional photochemical upconversion (UC) through homo-geneous triplet-triplet annihilation (TTA) is subject to several enthalpic losses that limit the UC margin. Here, we address one of these losses: the triplet energy transfer (TET) from the sensitizer to the emitter molecules.

Organic Infrared Upconversion Device

Advanced Materials, 2010
In addition to low efficiencies, inorganic orhybrid upconversion devices are expensive to fabricate forlarge-area applications. In recent years, both high-efficiency OLEDs and high-efficiency organic photodetectors have been demonstrated. Allorganic upconversion devices can be realized by integrating anOLED and an organic photodetector into one device ...
