Photon Upconversion in Aqueous Nanodroplets
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2019Triplet fusion upconversion, the conversion of two low-energy photons into one higher-energy photon via excitonic intermediates, has the potential to revolutionize fields as diverse as biological imaging, photovoltaics, and optogenetics. However, important hurdles to widespread application still exist; for example, the vast majority of demonstrations ...

Luminescence Tuning of Upconversion Nanocrystals
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2010AbstractUpconversion luminescence tuning of β‐NaYF4 nanorods under 980 nm excitation has successfully been achieved by tridoping with Ln3+ ions with different electronic structures. The effects of Ce3+ ions on NaYF4:Yb3+/Ho3+ as well as Gd3+ ions on NaYF4:Yb3+/Tm3+(Er3+) have been studied in detail.

Upconversion dynamics of Er3+:YAlO3
Journal of Applied Physics, 1993The dynamics of the green (2H11/12, 4S3/2) and red (4F9/2) upconversion emission excited by 15 ns pulses from an Er:fibre laser at 1500 nm are presented and analyzed. The upconversion process is found to fit a kinetic model, which includes both cross relaxation and energy transfer.

Upconversion photoluminescence analysis of fluoroquinolones
Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2019The characteristics of the upconversion (UC) photoluminescence (PL) of fluoroquinolones (FQs) are reported here for the first time. Using UC PL, a simple, sensitive, and cost-effective method of determining FQs was developed that eliminated interference arising from biological background fluorescence and did not require UV light to excite the FQ (in ...

Upconversion multichannel infrared spectrometer
Optics Letters, 2005A multichannel IR spectrometer using a standard silicon CCD array is demonstrated. Sum frequency generation between an ultrafast optical pulse and a frequency-dispersed IR beam generates a spatially extended optical signal that is collected on a generic CCD video camera.

Entropically Driven Photochemical Upconversion
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2011Conventional photochemical upconversion (UC) through homo-geneous triplet-triplet annihilation (TTA) is subject to several enthalpic losses that limit the UC margin. Here, we address one of these losses: the triplet energy transfer (TET) from the sensitizer to the emitter molecules.

Experimental Studies of Upconversion Laser Materials and Upconversion Lasers
1992Results will be presented of our spectrocopic measurements on Er:YLi:F4 and Er:BaY2F8. These materials have now been employed to make red, green and blue lasers that are pumped in the infrared. An output power 0.5 W has been measured at 551 nm with a 14% slope efficiency.
