Ratiometric fluorescence detection of Cd2+ and Pb2+ by inner filter-based upconversion nanoparticle-dithizone nanosystem

Microchemical journal (Print), 2019
This paper reports a fluorescence sensor based on inner filter effect (IFE) between upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) and dithizone for the highly selective and sensitive detection of cadmium ion (Cd2+) and lead ion (Pb2+) in black tea. The fluorescence

Upconversion luminescence from CdSe nanoparticles

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2005
Efficient upconversion luminescence has been observed from CdSe nanoparticles ranging in size from 2.5 to 6 nm. The upconversion luminescence exhibits a near-quadratic laser power dependence. Emissions from both excitons and trap states are observed in the upconversion and photoluminescence spectra, and in the upconversion luminescence the emission ...

PET imaging with multimodal upconversion nanoparticles

Dalton Transactions, 2014
A series of new upconversion nanoparticles have been functionalised with tumour-targeting molecules and metal chelates, prepared following standard peptidic and thiol chemistry. The targeting strategy has been delivered via the αvβ3 integrin, which is a heterodimeric cell surface receptor that is up-regulated in a variety of cancers, such as melanoma ...

Upconversion Nanoparticles for Bioimaging

2016
Rare earth lanthanide-doped upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs), which can nonlinearly convert long wavelength near-infrared (NIR) light illumination into multiplex emissions, have been widely used in biomedical applications for in vitro and in vivo biolabeling and optical data storage based on their controllable multicolor emission properties. Compared

Molecular Upconversion Nanoparticles for Live-Cell Imaging [PDF]

open access: possibleACS Nano
Precise molecular control has become a highly attractive feature to develop the next generation of upconversion materials for autofluorescence-free deep tissue imaging. However, in aqueous environments, upconversion molecules are orders of magnitude dimmer than inorganic upconversion nanoparticles, thereby strongly limiting their applicability to ...

Spectroscopic properties and upconversion in Pr3+:YF3 nanoparticles

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2011
The synthesis and spectroscopic investigation of Pr(3+):YF(3) nanoparticles with nominal concentration between 0.05% and 5 at% Pr(3+) are reported. Pr(3+) emission in the visible range of the spectrum is investigated at room temperature and at 10 K as well as time resolved spectroscopy as a function of Pr(3+) concentration.
