Phonon-assisted upconversion photoluminescence of quantum emitters

Journal of Semiconductors, 2023
Abstract Quantum emitters are widely used in quantum networks, quantum information processing, and quantum sensing due to their excellent optical properties. Compared with Stokes excitation, quantum emitters under anti-Stokes excitation exhibit better performance.

Upconversion photoluminescence analysis of fluoroquinolones

Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry, 2019
The characteristics of the upconversion (UC) photoluminescence (PL) of fluoroquinolones (FQs) are reported here for the first time. Using UC PL, a simple, sensitive, and cost-effective method of determining FQs was developed that eliminated interference arising from biological background fluorescence and did not require UV light to excite the FQ (in ...

Photoluminescence upconversion in 4H–SiC

Applied Physics Letters, 2002
Efficient photoluminescence upconversion is observed in 4H–SiC samples containing both the UD-3 defect and the titanium impurity. In this process, the titanium photoluminescence emission with no-phonon (NP) lines at 2.848 eV (A0) and 2.789 eV (B0) can be excited by tuning the laser to the NP line of UD-3 at 1.356 eV.

Upconversion Nanoparticles: Synthesis, Photoluminescence Properties, and Applications

Nanotechnologies in Russia, 2020
In the late 1990s, the unique possibilities application of inorganic nanocrystals with anti-Stokes photoluminescence were demonstrated. In a fairly short period, a significant breakthrough has been achieved in this field due to the development of new and modification of existing methods for the synthesis of these nanomaterials, and the expansion of ...

Photoluminescence upconversion in GaAs quantum wells

SPIE Proceedings, 2009
Photoluminescence upconversion removes energy from the medium. It has been applied extensively for laser cooling of atomic vapors and more recently also to condensed matter, such as dye solutions and glasses. The application to semiconductors has also been proposed, but so far, clear evidence is missing.

Photoluminescence Upconversion by Defects in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

Nano Letters, 2018
Hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) was recently reported to display single photon emission from ultraviolet to near-infrared range due to the existence of defects. Single photon emission has potential applications in quantum information processing and optoelectronics.

Reversible Photochemical Switching via Plasmonically Enhanced Upconversion Photoluminescence

Advanced Optical Materials, 2021
AbstractPhotochromic molecule‐incorporated optical devices offer desirable properties for photocontrollable optical systems, including advanced optical data storage and super‐resolution imaging. However, these molecules require multiple illumination sources, such as UV and visible light, for reversible photochemical reactions, which restricts their ...

Efficient Photoluminescence Upconversion in Porous Si

physica status solidi (b), 2001
Abstract : We report on a new phenomenon specific for a system of spatially interconnected nanocrystal assemblies: efficient low temperature photoluminescence (PL) conversion at resonant optical excitation of porous Si. The upconverted photoluminescence (anti-Stokes PL) is observed at intensities as low as 0.1 W/cm(exp 2) and its intensity is as large ...

Photoluminescence upconversion in colloidal CdTe quantum dots

Physical Review B, 2003
Photoluminescence ~PL! up-conversion, the observation of luminescence with energies higher than those of the excitation photons, has been widely observed in the bulk 1 and heterostructures 2‐5 of semiconductors, quantum wells, 6 porous silicon, 7 self-assembled quantum dots ~QDs!, 8 and colloidal QDs.

High-temperature phonon-assisted upconversion photoluminescence of monolayer WSe2

Applied Physics Letters, 2023
Phonon-assisted upconversion photoluminescence (UPL) is an anti-Stokes process emitting photons of energy higher than the excitation photons, with upconversion energy gain provided by optical phonons. Atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides provide a promising platform for exploring the phonon-assisted UPL process due to their strong phonon ...
