Low-temperature photoluminescence upconversion in porous Si
Physical Review B, 2000We report efficient low-temperature upconverted photoluminescence ~UPL! at resonant excitation of the porous Si photoluminescence band. The UPL has a linear dependence on the excitation intensity, quenches at elevated temperatures, and is absent in strongly oxidized porous Si and oxidized Si nanocrystals.

Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids, 2012Abstract Photoluminescence properties of Gd 2 O 3 : Er 3+ , Yb 3+ upconversion inverse opal photonic crystals were investigated. Upconversion photoluminescence of CdS nanocrystals in polymeric film
Journal of Applied Physics, 2008We report on nonlinear upconversion photoluminescence (PL) of CdS nanocrystals (NCs) embedded in a polymeric film. The CdS NCs of 2 nm radius are synthesized by an ion exchange method and highly concentrated in the two layers near the surfaces of a freestanding Nafion film.

Tip Enhancement of Upconversion Photoluminescence from Rare Earth Ion Doped Nanocrystals
ACS Nano, 2015We present tip-enhanced upconversion photoluminescence (PL) images of Er(3+)- and Yb(3+)-doped NaYF4 nanocrystals on glass substrates with subdiffraction spatial resolution. Tip-sample distance dependent measurements clearly demonstrate the near-field origin of the image contrast.
