Uplift Capacity of Buried Model Piles in Sand
Journal of the Geotechnical Engineering Division, 1975Generally pile foundations are used to support the compressive load of structures; however, some structures, e.g., transmission towers and mooring systems for ocean surface or submerged platforms, are constructed with piled foundations to support the uplift load.

Uplift Capacity of Ground Anchors in Calcareous Soils
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1986The uplift capacity of ground anchors in dense calcareous soils was examined by full-scale field tests on nine anchors installed at three sites. The results are presented, analyzed, and compared with recent empirical and analytical methods for prediction of anchor capacity and critical bond length.

Bearing Capacity of Uplift Piles with End Gates
2018The pile base plays an important role in increasing its bearing capacity. Several studies have been carried out to produce types of piles which are enlarged at their bases. Therefore, it was thought in this study to design a mechanism on enlarged base for the pile at a selected depth so that it does not intersect with pile driving process.

Uplift Capacity of Bored Piles in Calcareous Soils
Journal of Geotechnical Engineering, 1986The uplift capacity of bored piles in dense calcareous soils was examined by field tests at three sites in Kuwait. The nine test piles were 0.5 m in diameter and extended to a maximum depth of 15 m below the ground surface. The mobilized skin friction and the coefficient of lateral earth pressure were determined and compared with values obtained in ...

Estimating Uplift Capacity of Light Steel Roof System
Journal of Structural Engineering, 1992Roof systems constructed using cold-formed steel components, i.e., C- or Z-shaped purlins and interconnected roof panels, have become a very popular form of construction in the United States.

The Uplift Capacity of Foundations Under Oblique Loads
Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 1973The previous theory of vertical uplift capacity of foundations has been extended to foundations under oblique loads. The analysis is compared with the results of model and some field tests on rigid anchors and piles in sand and clay. The influence of load inclination on the uplift resistance can be represented by an interaction relationship between ...
