LTE Uplink Scheduling - Flow Level Analysis

2011
Long Term Evolution (LTE) is a cellular technology foreseen to extend the capacity and improve the performance of current 3G cellular networks. A key mechanism in the LTE traffic handling is the packet scheduler, which is in charge of allocating resources to active flows in both the frequency and time dimension.

Large Reflector Uplink Arraying

SpaceOps 2010 Conference, 2010
The promise of array technology in support of space operations has long been appreciated, and receiving array technology is now an important operational asset. Notable examples include the NRAO (National Radio Astronomy Observatory) array of twenty seven 25m reflectors and the DSN (Deep Space Network) ad hoc arraying of various assets, particularly 34m

Uplink MIMO for HSPA

2012 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2012
Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) techniques were recently proposed for HSUPA in 3GPP. In this paper, we show that compared to the baseline non-MIMO transmission, the beam-forming closed loop transmission diversity (CLTD) can provide clear UE Tx power saving but sometimes only little throughput gain.

Low cost uplink concepts

Acta Astronautica, 1995
In order to minimize the cost of developing sequences of commands for small, low cost missions, a cost effective set of uplink tools used in conjunction with an appropriate ground system architecture (including a multi-mission operations facility) must be utilized.

WCDMA uplink system performance

IEEE 60th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2004. VTC2004-Fall. 2004, 2005
In WCDMA, uplink radio resources are shared by multiple users and the radio resource management (RRM) is done at the UTRAN (UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network). In this paper, the link and system performance of the WCDMA uplink is evaluated using different techniques such as retransmissions with incremental redundancy (IR), short frame durations and

LTE-Advanced Uplink Transmissions

2016
In Long Term Evolution (LTE) uplink transmissions Single-Carrier Frequency Division Multiplexing (SC-FDM) is employed, mainly to achieve a lower Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) at the transmitting mobile device, when compared to Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmissions.

Submarine Laser Communication Uplinks

Lasers, Sources and Related Photonic Devices, 2010
Paper discusses SLC uplink design trade-offs and compares uplinks with downlinks. Modulation formats, receivers, transmitter and optical filters for uplinks are discussed. Uplink radiance profiles under various environmental conditions are determined.

A new uplink interference mitigation in HetNets using macro uplink subframe muting

2015 International Conference on Applied Research in Computer Science and Engineering (ICAR), 2015
In this paper, we propose a new method to combat uplink interference for small cell networks and to improve the downlink performance for macro-cell users. The focus of this new method is to tackle directly the uplink problem without having recourse to Cell Range Expansion (CRE) and Almost Blank Subframe (ABS) techniques.

ULSGEN (Uplink Summary Generator)

SpaceOps 2014 Conference, 2014
Uplink is an important part of spacecraft operations. Ensuring the accuracy of uplink content is essential to mission success. Before commands are radiated to the spacecraft, the command and sequence must be reviewed and verified by various teams. In most cases, this process requires collecting the command data, reviewing the data during a command ...

Uplink CoMP for HSPA

2011 IEEE 73rd Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2011
Uplink co-ordinated multipoint reception (UL CoMP) has received attention recently, especially for LTE Advanced, due to its promise of increasing spectral efficiency. In this paper, UL CoMP for HSPA networks is considered. UL CoMP for HSPA may be deployed without changes to the standard, and may be applied also for legacy UEs. Comparisons and contrasts
