Cross-Channel transport in the Upper Delaware Estuary
2021This research employs a model to examine the potential for material transport across the channel of the upper, non-saline tidal Delaware River in Philadelphia and vicinity. Numerical experiments were designed to explore the possible dynamics of tidally-driven transverse transport, and the potential implications for the Baxter drinking water intake of ...

DEVELOPMENT OF UPPER BODY POWER IN JUNIOR CROSS-COUNTRY SKIERS
Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research, 2004With the advent of the ski-skating technique, upper body power has increasingly been shown to be a major factor in cross-country skiing success. The purpose of this study was to evaluate 4 commonly used training methods (weight, circuit, rollerboard, and ski-specific training) for the development of upper body power (UBP) in junior cross-country skiers.

Upper bounds on the elastic differential cross section
Annals of Physics, 1970Abstract We derive improved axiomatic upper bounds on the elastic unpolarized differential cross section, dσ dΩ , at high energies for the scattering of particles with arbitrary spin. We prove that dσ dω ⩽ s→∞ σ el 4φ {(L+1) 2 [P L (cos θ)] 2 +sin 2 θ[P L′ (cos θ)] 2 } with L= 1 2 S

Upper mantle cross section from Tonga to Newfoundland
Journal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, 1988A record section of long‐period U.S. and Canadian observations of multibounce SH waves from a Tonga event is used to study lateral variation in the upper mantle. Source to receiver distances range from 81° to 131° with triplication patterns apparent in S4 for the western North America stations and S5 for the more distant stations.

Upper Orwell Crossings, Ipswich Geoarchaeological Assessment Report
2018The geotechnical ground investigation comprised excavation of trial pits, boreholes and cone penetration tests. This report covers the stratigraphic sequences revealed by the boreholes. was anticipated the investigation would produce an array of undisturbed cores as well as disturbed bulk samples, primarily intended for geotechnical laboratory testing.

Upper-Body Posture in Adolescent Pianists: A Cross-Sectional Study
Medical Problems of Performing Artists, 2020AIMS: Although the significance of upper-body posture in relation to piano performance has often been highlighted, the role of experience remains unclear. The aim of this study was to examine selected upper body posture parameters in adolescent piano students of different performance level (beginners vs advanced).

Upper Crossed Syndrome and Its Relationship to Cervicogenic Headache
Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, 2004To discuss the management of upper crossed syndrome and cervicogenic headache with chiropractic care, myofascial release, and exercise.A 56-year-old male writer had been having constant 1-sided headaches radiating into the right eye twice weekly for the past 5 years. Tenderness to palpation was elicited from the occiput to T4 bilaterally.

Upper Gastrointestinal Carcinogenesis: H. pylori and Stem Cell Cross-Talk
Journal of Surgical Research, 2011Chronic inflammation of the gastric epithelium has been associated with the pathogenesis of gastric cancer, as it was postulated by Corea's model of gastric carcinogenesis. Helicobacter pylori (Hp) regulates this inflammatory process and promotes gastric carcinogenesis through induction of gene mutations and protein modulation.

A CROSSED FLEXION REFLEX OF THE UPPER EXTREMITY
Archives of Neurology & Psychiatry, 1930During the course of recovery from a partial Brown-Sequard paralysis, probably due to a localized meningomyelitis, an unusual crossed flexion reflex of the upper extremity was elicited by stimulation of the skin over the abdominal wall. The receptive field of this reflex extended from the sixth to the twelfth dorsal segment of the side opposite the ...
