Elastomeric Micro‐Balloons for Remote Control of Cerebral Blood Flow and Real‐Time In vivo Imaging of Rodent Brain Response to Hypoperfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the fabrication of MRI‐compatible elastomeric micro‐balloons via a multi‐step bubble casting process, where the monolithic elastomeric wall is selectively stiffened for reversible and controlled inflation and elasticity, depending on the target vessels for graded occlusion of cerebral arteries.

Plasma urea:creatinine ratio as a biomarker of gastrointestinal bleeding in dogs with anaemia

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, 2023
Background Gastrointestinal bleeding is a cause of anaemia in dogs. A reliable, non‐invasive biomarker to differentiate gastrointestinal bleeding from other causes of anaemia would be advantageous to direct clinical decisions in anaemic patients.

A Microbial Lipid‐ATP Synthase Axis Fuels NK Cell Antitumor Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study focuses on the mechanism by which gut microbiota‐derived outer membrane vesicles (OMVs) regulate NK cell antitumor activity. B. intestinalis is identified to decrease extra‐intestinal tumor growth via its OMVs enriched in sphingosine (SP).

Bayesian network modelling of upper gastrointestinal bleeding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Bayesian networks are graphical probabilistic models that represent causal and other relationships between domain variables. In the context of medical decision making, these models have been explored to help in medical diagnosis and prognosis.

Constraint of Lignin–Carbohydrate Complex Orchestrated on Polyphenol in Oil–Water Interface Targeting Ulcerative Colitis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study constructed the W1/O/W2 emulsion–based targeted therapy delivery system for ulcerative colitis (UC) utilizing LCC as surfactant for the first time. This multifunctional emulsion offered certain therapeutic advantages for UC, including targeted colonic delivery of active compounds, synergistic modulation of gut microbiota through combined ...

Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding Caused by Rupture of Pancreatic Pseudoaneurysms

open access: yesCase Reports in Critical Care, 2023
Pseudoaneurysm rupture in patients with pancreatitis is a rare but fatal etiology of upper gastrointestinal bleeding. We report a rare case of upper gastrointestinal bleeding in a patient who presented simultaneously with two pseudoaneurysms, a potential

Classification models for predicting the source of gastrointestinal bleeding in the absence of hematemesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Management of acute gastrointestinal bleeding necessitates the identification of the source of bleed. The source of bleeding which is clear in patients presenting with hematemesis, is unclear in the absence of it.

Proposal of Early Drain Exchange After Pancreatoduodenectomy From the View of Reducing Postoperative Pancreatic Fistula

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To mitigate the progression of postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF) after pancreatoduodenectomy (PD), appropriate drain management is required, and exchanging drainage tubes is commonly performed. However, the optimal timing of the first drain exchange has not yet been determined.
