The upper pleistocene loess of southern Tunisia: A statement
Earth Surface Processes and Landforms, 1988AbstractOn the Matmata Plateau, the sedimentological characteristics of the peri‐desert loess and the interbedded palaeosols (particle‐size distribution; chemical and mineralogical composition of major components; trace elements; clay mineral assemblage; heavy mineral assemblage; SEM‐examined surficial textures of the quartz and palygorskite grains ...

Definition of the Middle–Upper Pleistocene boundary
Global and Planetary Change, 2003The definition of a Middle–Upper Pleistocene Subseries boundary is discussed. This boundary is at present not formally defined, but has up till now been placed at the beginning of the Last Interglacial (Eemian, Mikulino, Sangamonian, etc.) or Marine Isotope Stage 5.

Loess chronology of the Middle and Upper Pleistocene in Tadjikistan
Geologische Rundschau, 1998The loess/paleosol sequences of Central Asia are continuous terrestrial records of the Quaternary period and enable detailed comparison with paleoclimatic archives such as marine and ice core records in order to reconstruct regional and global paleoclimatic and paleoecological development during the past 130 000 years.

Upper Pleistocene loess stratigraphy in Southern Germany
Quaternary Science Reviews, 1999Abstract The detailed loess/paleosol sequences of Southern Germany provide a highly sensitive record of the regional climate and environmental changes of the Upper Pleistocene. Combined infrared stimulated luminescence (IRSL) and thermoluminescence (TL) dating was carried out on loess and loess derivatives at Upper Pleistocene-type sections from the ...

Biostratigraphy of the Middle and Upper Pleistocene of the Caspian Region
Quaternary International, 2013Biostratigraphy of the Caspian Pleistocene is based on changes in evolutionary patterns and ecological assemblage change of the mollusc genus Didacna Eichwald. The study of peculiarities and patterns in the spatial-temporal distribution of Didacna Eichwald in the deposits of the middle and upper Pleistocene of the Caspian region showed that the ...

Aspects of the Middle and Upper Pleistocene of the Upper Ouse Basin
1984The thesis undertakes a lithostratigraphical examination of terrace and fluvioglacial gravels of the Upper Great Ouse basin, and part of the Nene basin, in order to provide a foundation for a Middle and Upper Pleistocene stratigraphy of a relatively little-researched area. Pebble-counts are used as a basis for Stratigraphie interpretation following the

Miocene to Upper Pleistocene proboscids in Croatia
