Experimental study on the effect of silver, nickel and chromium interlayers and upset pressure in joining SS304L-AA6063 alloys through direct drive friction welding process

Journal of the Brazilian Society of Mechanical Sciences and Engineering, 2020
Joining of dissimilar alloys is demanded industrial applications and is effectively possible with the friction welding (FW) process. In this work, SS304L alloy rods were electroplated with silver (Ag), nickel (Ni) and chromium (Cr) and joined with AA6063 at various upset pressures (UP) (18, 21, 24 MPa) through friction welding process.

Elastoplastic finite element analyses of an upsetting-sliding test for the determination of friction at medium and high contact pressure

Tribology International, 1996
The upsetting-sliding test is a friction test employed for the determination of the tangential stress-contact pressure relationship at a specimen-tool or target part-contactor contact surface. It is used in addition to the analysis of forming sequences or mechanical design.

Analysis of Mechanical and Metallurgical Properties of Friction Welded ASTM A106Gr.B Carbon Steel Pipe Joints by Varying Upset Pressures

Indian Welding Journal, 2019
Friction welding is one of the most common methods employed in the joining of carbon and alloy steel tubular sections. In the present work, the analysis of the effect of upset pressure on mechanical and metallurgical properties of friction welded ASTM A 106 Gr. B low carbon steel pipes has been investigated.

“Fruit basket upset”: spatially explicit crop mixture responses to climatic and economic pressures

China Agricultural Economic Review
PurposeThe choice of crops to produce at a location depends to a large degree on the climate. As the climate changes and food demand evolves, farmers may need to produce a different mix of crops. This study assesses how much cropland may be subject to such upheavals at the global scale, and then focuses on China as a case study to examine how spatial ...

The results of the so far performed investigations of Al-Cu butt cold pressure welding by the method of upsetting

Archives of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, 2009
The paper presents the results of the author's investigation obtained so far concerning the relationships between the properties of the Al-Cu weld and the surface condition prior to welding, the properties of the welded material and the process of plastic deformation of the materials being welded.

FEM Analysis of Hydrostatic Pressure Generated Within Lubricant Entrapped Into Pocket on Workpiece Surface in Upsetting Process

Journal of Tribology, 1999
In order to investigate into the quantitative relationship between the hydrostatic pressure generated within the surface pocket of the workpiece and the normal pressure acting on the real contact area at the interface of metal forming such as drawing, rolling, forging and so on, the hydrostatic pressure is calculated accompanied with reduction in ...
