Comparison of 18FBPA uptake with 18FDG uptake in cancer patients

Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 2020
For the patients who underwent 18fluorinated para-boronophenylalanine (18FBPA) positron emission tomography (PET) and 18fluorodeoxyglucose (18FDG) PET within a period of 2 weeks, maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), tumor-to-normal tissue ratio (TNR), and tumor-to-blood ratio (TBR) for 18FBPA were compared with SUVmax for 18FDG.

Glutamate uptake

Progress in Neurobiology, 2001
Brain tissue has a remarkable ability to accumulate glutamate. This ability is due to glutamate transporter proteins present in the plasma membranes of both glial cells and neurons. The transporter proteins represent the only (significant) mechanism for removal of glutamate from the extracellular fluid and their importance for the long-term maintenance

Vanadium Uptake by Yeasts

Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 1999
Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells reduce vanadate V(V) to vanadyl V(IV) as a detoxification mechanism. Cells resume growth as V(V) concentration in the medium decreases as a consequence of its reduction to V(IV); the final number of cells is proportional to initial vanadate concentrations.

The specific uptake size index for quantifying radiopharmaceutical uptake

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2004
Quantitative indices of radionuclide uptake in an object of interest provide a useful adjunct to qualitative interpretation in the diagnostic application of radionuclide imaging. This note describes a new measure of total uptake of an organ, the specific uptake size index (SUSI). It can either be related in absolute terms to the total activity injected

The uptake of amino acids by isolated segments of rat intestine II. A survey of affinity for uptake from rates of uptake and competition for uptake

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1960
Average rates have been determined for the uptake by segments of rat small intestine of 17 amino acids at the concentrations of I mM and IO mM. At IO mM the order is such that the more lipophilic amino acids show the smaller rates, but at I mM the order is distinctly reversed, with the more lipophilic amino acids having the greater rates.

UPTAKE OF MACROMOLECULES BY THE THYROID

Acta Endocrinologica, 1977
ABSTRACT The uptake by thyroid tissue of radioactively labelled macromolecules was studied in vitro to elucidate the mechanism of endocytosis of thyroglobulin by the follicular cell. Minced sheep thyroid was incubated with [125I]polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP*), [3H]inulin, [125I]thyroglobulin or [125I]fibrinogen.

Ammonium uptake by Chlorella

Planta, 1986
The preincubation of Chlorella cells with glucose caused a tenfold increase of the maximal uptake rate of ammonium without change in the K m (2 μM). A similar stimulation of ammonium uptake was found when the cells were transferred to nitrogen-free growth medium. The time-course of uptake stimulation by glucose revealed a lag period of 10-20 min.

Uptake of Oligonucleotides by Keratinocytes

Nucleosides and Nucleotides, 1999
Oligonucleotides (ODNs) conjugated to rhodamin (Rh) and 4-[(N-2-chloroethyl-N-methyl)amino] benzylamine were used to investigate ODNs transport into keratinocytes. Affinity labeling of two proteins, 63 and 35 kDa, and the inhibition of the affinity labeling and ODNs uptake by the cells in the presence of nucleic acids, polyanions and trypsin suggest ...

Uptake and Release of Neurotransmitters

Current Protocols in Neuroscience, 1998
AbstractThe availability of clonal cell lines for norepinephrine, dopamine, and serotonin transporters allows the characterization of drug interactions with transporter recognition sites using radioligands, as well as the characterization of drug effects on selective transporter‐mediated uptake and release of substrate. In addition to clonal cell lines,

Uptake of chlorhexidine to hydroxyapatite

Journal of Periodontal Research, 1973
The uptake of chlorhexidine to hydroxyapatite was studied in vitro. Data were obtained indicating a multilayer adsorption at high concentration (>0.02 %) and a stable monolayer at lower concentrations. The clinical significance of such a monolayer in plaque prevention is discussed.
