Abstract The interannual El Niño‐Southern Oscillation (ENSO) triggers extreme climate events worldwide. Geochemical proxies in coral skeletons from the eastern equatorial Pacific (EP) track ENSO conditions, constraining its long‐term variance and response to forcing.

Abstract The equatorial Pacific zonal sea surface temperature (SST) gradient has strengthened since 1980, yet fewer than 1% of CMIP6 simulations reproduce this trend. We test whether underestimated internal variability explains this mismatch. Extreme El Niño events enhance interdecadal variability of the gradient, but CMIP6 models simulate them too ...

Baroclinic Submesoscale Eddies in the Ross Ice Shelf Cavity Alter Heat Pathways to the Ice Base
Abstract The influence of baroclinic submesoscale eddies on basal melting beneath Ross Ice Shelf remains poorly understood. We analyzed a 4.5‐year mooring record from the central cavity and identified seven eddy‐like events from variability in density, velocity, and thermohaline structure, with horizontal scales (∼11 km) characteristic of submesoscale ...

Ridge Migration and Plate Boundary Readjustments at the Rodriguez Triple Junction
Abstract The Rodriguez Triple Junction (RTJ) marks the intersection of the Indian Ocean's three principal mid‐ocean ridges and is a type locality for Ridge‐Ridge‐Ridge triple junctions. A local seismic network was deployed for 8 months to monitor seismicity around the RTJ and the adjacent Central Indian Ridge (CIR).

Abstract The surface energy budget governs Arctic sea‐ice growth/melt, yet observations are sparse, and reanalysis data sets suffer from systematic biases. Here, we train a neural network with observational data to bias‐correct hourly ERA5 fluxes over Arctic ice‐covered regions (≥70°N; sea‐ice concentration >80%) for 1994–2024.
