Thermal‐Infrared Measurements of the North‐East Tower at Ardrossan Castle
ABSTRACT Thermal‐infrared imaging of buildings is used to investigate a range of phenomena including the accumulation of moisture. In general, the presence of moisture poses a direct danger to historic structures and must be characterized prior to any intervention.

A 30 m long sedimentary succession at the bottom of the Belize Blue Hole represents terrestrial cenote (12.5–7.2 ka BP), restricted marine swamp (7.2–5.7 ka BP) and fully marine lagoonal phases (5.7–0 ka BP) on Lighthouse Reef carbonate platform. Post‐glacial and Holocene sea‐level rise largely controlled the sedimentological, faunal and floral changes

Dynamic features of successive upwelling events in the Baltic Sea - a numerical case study [PDF]
Coastal upwelling often reveals itself during the thermal stratification season as an abrupt sea surface temperature (SST) drop. Its intensity depends not only on the magnitude of an upwelling-favourable wind impulse but also on the temperature ...

Mechanisms for Tropical Upwelling in the Stratosphere [PDF]
The dynamics of the tropical upwelling branch of the stratospheric Brewer–Dobson circulation are examined, with a particular focus on the role of the middle-atmosphere Hadley circulation. Upwelling is examined in terms of both the diabatic circulation and Lagrangian trajectories using a zonally symmetric balance model.

The data and interpretations of this study are used to test the proposal by Goldhammer et al. that a ‘stratigraphy of early diagenesis’ is operational in carbonate depositional systems. What this means is that distinct mineralogical and geochemical changes to rock and sediment occur associated with external controls, such as the rise and fall of sea ...

Artificial upwelling of nutrient-rich waters and the corresponding boost in primary productivity harbor the potential to enhance marine fishery yields and strengthen the biological pump for sequestration of atmospheric CO2. There is increasing urgency to

Temperature generally drives latitudinal patterns in the strength of trophic interactions, including consumption rates. However, local community and other environmental conditions might also affect consumption, disrupting latitudinal gradients, which results in complex large‐scale patterns.
