Basic characterization of highly enriched uranium by gamma spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yesNucl.Instrum.Meth. B246 (2006) 417-424, 2005
Gamma-spectrometric methods suitable for the characterization of highly enriched uranium samples encountered in illicit trafficking of nuclear materials are presented. In particular, procedures for determining the 234U, 235U, 238U, 232U and 236U contents and the age of highly enriched uranium are described.

Effect of the spin-orbit interaction on thermodynamic properties of liquid uranium [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
We present the first quantum molecular dynamics calculation of zero-pressure isobar of solid and liquid uranium that account for spin-orbit coupling. We demonstrate that inclusion of spin-orbit interaction leads to higher degree of the thermal expansion of uranium, especially in the liquid phase.

ZDC Effective Cross Section for Run 12 Uranium-Uranium Collisions in RHIC [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
An accurate calibration of the luminosity measurement of the 2012 Uranium-Uranium RHIC run at 96 GeV per beam is of the greatest importance in order to measure the total uranium-uranium cross section with a reasonably small error bar. During the run, which lasted from April 20th to May 15th 2012, three vernier scans per experiment were performed.

Thermal radiative and thermodynamic properties of solid and liquid uranium and plutonium carbides in the visible-near infrared range [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The knowledge of thermal radiative and thermodynamic properties of uranium and plutonium carbides under extreme conditions is essential for designing a new metallic fuel materials for next generation of a nuclear reactor. The present work is devoted to the study of the thermal radiative and thermodynamic properties of liquid and solid uranium and ...

Origin and Role of Kaolinization in Roll-Front Uranium Deposits and Its Response to Ore-Forming Fluids in the Yili Basin, China

open access: yesGeofluids, 2018
Kaolinite is a common mineral found in most Chinese sandstone-hosted uranium deposits. It occurs particularly in coal-bearing clastic rocks in northwest China, such as the uranium deposits in the Yili Basin, which is well known for hosting several large ...

Titanium‐Mediated Rearrangement of Bis(alkynyl)boranes: B–C Activation vs C–H Activation

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Accepted Article.
Reactions between Rosenthal’s titanocene (Cp2Ti) and decamethyltitanocene (Cp*2Ti) synthons with various bis(alkynyl)boranes were investigated. A series of titanium‐fused boracyclobutenes were obtained through the reaction of the Cp*2Ti synthon with (Me3Si)2NB(CCR)2 or PhB(CCPh)2.

A Density Functional Study of O2 Adsorption on (100) Surface of gamma-Uranium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We have studied the chemisorption processes of O2 on the (100) surface of uranium using generalized gradient approximation to density functional theory. Dissociative adsorptions of O2 are significantly favored compared to molecular adsorptions. We found interstitial adsorption of molecular oxygen to be less probable, as no bound states were found in ...

Orientation‐Dependent Upper Critical Magnetic Field and Density of State for Uranium Ditelluride

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
This study investigates the orientation‐dependent upper critical magnetic field (HC2) and the density of states (DOS) in the unconventional superconductor UTe2. These results reveal an anisotropic HC2, with distinct critical fields along different crystallographic axes, highlighting the role of electronic correlations and spin‐triplet pairing.
