Vinburnine Sensitizes Radiotherapy Efficacy in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma by Triggering Pyroptosis and Immune Responses via Activation of EDAR‐NFκB Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that vinburnine, an approved cerebrovascular drug, synergizes with radiotherapy in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) by modulating EDAR‐NFκB signaling through directly binding to EDAR, leading to triggering apoptosis/pyroptosis, and amplifying CCL5/CX3CL1‐driven T‐cell cytotoxicity.

Evaluation of uranium migration during the maturation of hydrocarbon source rocks

open access: yesScientific Reports
The source of uranium is an important research topic related to the exploration of sandstone-type uranium deposits, and potential uranium sources in deep basins are often overlooked.

Serine Grafted Silica Coated Nanoscale Zero‐Valent Iron with Enhanced Fenton‐Like Degradation of Mixed Organic Solvents of Tributyl Phosphate and n‐dodecane

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Serine grafted silica coated nanoscale zero‐valent iron is synthesized. Through the SiO2 coating and serine grafting, the aggregation and oxidation of nZVI are reduced, and the slow release of Fe2+ ensured the catalytic cycle. The adsorption capacity for TBP and n‐dodecane is higher, because of the synergistic effect of surface functional groups.

Improved ion exchange membrane [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Membrane, made from commercially-available hollow fibers, is used in reverse osmosis, or dialysis. Fiber has skin layers which pass only small molecules. Macromolecules cannot penetrate skin.

Ultraslow Wave Nuclear Burning of Uranium-Plutonium Fissile Medium on Epithermal Neutrons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
For a fissile medium, originally consisting of uranium-238, the investigation of fulfillment of the wave burning criterion in a wide range of neutron energies is conducted for the first time, and a possibility of wave nuclear burning not only in the ...

Enriched Oxygen Vacancy‐Mediated Efficient Charge Transfer in S‐Scheme ZnO‐VO@Zn0.5Cd0.5S Heterojunction for Rapid U(VI) Removal From Nuclear Wastewater

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An S‐scheme ZnO‐VO@Zn0.5Cd0.5S heterojunction with oxygen vacancies (VO) was developed for rapidly removing U(VI) from nuclear wastewater. The results show that the synergy between S‐scheme transfer and VO enhances the catalyst’s U(VI) removal kinetics. It achieves 99.10% removal in 10 minutes without any sacrificial agents.

Crystal plasticity finite element simulations of cast α-uranium [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
α-uranium, the stable phase of uranium up to 670◦C, has a base-centred orthorombic crystal structure. This crystal structure gives rise to elastic and thermal anisotropy, meaning α-uranium exhibits complex deformation and fracture behaviour ...

On the Design of Effective Water‐Soluble Actinide‐Masking Ligands Through Ligand Structure Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ligand topology and non‐coordination atoms are proved to be important for the design of effective water‐soluble actinide masking agents. Abstract Water‐soluble actinide‐masking ligands are fundamentally important for achieving efficient lanthanide/actinide separation and for the development of water‐soluble f‐block complexes for bioimaging and ...

Large Igneous Province Record Through Time and Implications for Secular Environmental Changes and Geological Time‐Scale Boundaries

open access: yesGeophysical Monograph Series, Page 1-26., 2021

Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact

An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Dual‐Function Piezo‐Photocatalytic Systems for Sustainable Hydrogen Evolution and Environmental Remediation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This article reviews dual‐function piezo‐photocatalytic systems that combine light and mechanical energy to produce hydrogen and clean the environment. It explains how various materials, including metal oxides, 2D structures, perovskites, and composites, enhance charge separation and reaction efficiency.
