This review presents the preparation procedures and characterisations of almost all hitherto identified tervalent uranium compounds. Emphasis is placed on crystallographic and optical properties of the compounds. Spectroscopic properties of uranium(3+) doped single crystals are also discussed.

Bispentamethylcyclopentadienyl uranium diphenylphosphide compounds
Journal of Organometallic Chemistry, 1999Abstract Reaction of [U(Cp*)2(Me)2] with HPPh2 was the best route to the uranium(IV) diphenylphosphide compounds [U(Cp*)2(PPh2)2] 1 and [U(Cp*)2(PPh2)(Me)] 2. Thermolysis of 2 afforded the ortho-metallated complex [U(Cp*)2(PPh{o-C6H4})] 3. Reduction of 1 with KH gave the first U(III) phosphide K[U(Cp*)2(PPh2)2] 4.

Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology, 2015Uranium occurs naturally in soil and rocks, and therefore where it is present in water-soluble form it also occurs naturally in groundwater as well as in drinking water obtained from groundwater. Animal studies suggest that the toxicity of uranium is mainly due to its damage to kidney tubular cells following exposure to soluble uranium compounds.
