On microfluidic solvent extraction of uranium

Chemical Engineering and Processing - Process Intensification, 2018
Abstract This experimental study is focused on several aspects of microfluidic solvent extraction of uranium in setups comprising of microbore tube(s) connected to microfluidic junction(s). Extraction experiments are carried out using simulated lean aqueous phase having 550 ppm uranium in 1 M HNO3 as the feed.

Bacteria in uranium extraction

Physics Bulletin, 1977
Forecasts of uranium demand up to the end of the century need to be revised constantly because of the uncertainty at present over the rate of development of nuclear power. But even the requirements of nuclear power stations which have already been built or are under construction are going to make heavy demands on the uranium producing industry.

Extraction of uranium from solid waste containing uranium and fluorine

Minerals Engineering, 2014
Abstract A significant amount of waste residue and adsorbent containing uranium generated by uranium refining and conversion R&D activities has been stored at the Ningyo-toge Environmental Engineering Center of the Japan Atomic Energy Agency. The treatment of these materials is one of the most important tasks in the decommissioning of the plant ...

Extracting Uranium From Seawater

Chemical & Engineering News Archive, 2012
If, like most scientists, you haven’t thought much about the composition of seawater, it may come as a surprise that the oceans contain uranium. In fact, they hold a staggering quantity of the heavy element. “It’s estimated that more than 4 billion metric tons of uranium are dissolved in the Earth’s oceans,” according to Benjamin P.

Extraction of Plutonium from Uranium-Plutonium Alloy with Uranium Trichloride

Nuclear Applications, 1967
The reaction UCl3 + Pu ⇋ PuCl3 + U was examined by measurement of the redistribution of plutonium after equilibration of molten uranium alloys containing 0.2 to 4.2% Pu with UCl3 diluted with CaCl2...

Kinetics of Uranium Extraction from Uranium Tailings by Oxidative Leaching

JOM, 2016
Extraction of uranium from uranium tailings by oxidative leaching with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) was studied. The effects of various extraction factors were investigated to optimize the dissolution conditions, as well as to determine the leaching kinetic parameters.

Extractive spectrophotometric determination of uranium with Malachite Green

Talanta, 1977
A sensitive spectrophotometric method based on the extraction of a uranium-benzoate-Malachite Green complex by chlorobenzene is described. The absorption maximum is at 635 nm and the molar absorptivity is 8.3 x 10(4) 1 mole(-1), cm(-1). A preliminary separation of uranium by extraction with methyl isobutyl ketone from acid-deficient aluminium nitrate ...

Separation and Extraction of Uranium from Leach Liquor Containing Uranium and Molybdenum by Solvent Extraction with LIX 622N

Journal of Dispersion Science and Technology, 2014
The leach liquor (0.5 g/L Mo, 0.05 g/L U) obtained from the leaching process of molybdenum-uranium ore material was treated using solvent extraction to recover U(VI) by LIX 622N, which is a salicylaldoxime derivative. The influence of various basic variables such as pH, concentration of LIX 622N, temperature, different stripping reagents, phase ratio ...
