An endemic Aurès chemotype of Salvia balansae emerges as a rich source of luteolin, rosmarinic acid, and other polyphenols with potent antioxidant and NLRP3‐linked anti‐inflammatory activities. Protection against experimental inflammation, favorable enzyme‐modulating properties, and a wide safety margin highlight its promise as a pharmaceutical and ...

Brine Pool Microbes Enrich Metalliferous Sediments in Salt Giant Basins
Abstract We report the discovery of an extinct deep‐sea brine pool in the Red Sea's Hume Deep, providing evidence that rift‐shoulder pools are ephemeral on millennial timescales, and that the microbially‐enriched metalliferous deposits produced during the pool's active phase persist into the stratigraphic record.

Past the First Date: Ensemble Concordant–Discordant Comparison for Zircon Pb‐Loss Analysis
Abstract Zircon uranium–lead (U–Pb) geochronology is a cornerstone of Earth science for resolving the timing of deep‐time processes, yet the U–Pb system does not always behave as a closed chronometer. Selective loss of radiogenic Pb during fluid alteration or thermal disturbance can shift isotopic ages and generate discordant analyses. Some zircon data

Abstract The Coastal Cordillera of northern Chile, in the forearc of the Andean subduction zone, provides an ideal site to evaluate exhumation above the oldest active subduction under extreme aridity. This range lies parallel to a sediment‐starved trench, has experienced hyperaridity since the Miocene, and is transected by the ∼1,000‐km‐long Atacama ...
