HNRNPC Succinylation Influences the Neurodegeneration of Alzheimer's Disease Through YME1L1‐Mediated Mitochondrial Metabolism

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 8, August 2026.
In Alzheimer's disease, SIRT5 downregulation enhances TRIM25‐mediated succinylation of HNRNPC at K50, increasing its stability. Stabilized HNRNPC upregulates YME1L1 expression via an m6A‐dependent mechanism, leading to OPA1 hydrolysis dysregulation, mitochondrial fission‐fusion imbalance, ROS overproduction, and neuronal death.

Comparative 30‐day life cycle assessment of bladder drainage strategies

open access: yesBJU International, Volume 138, Issue 2, Page 285-296, August 2026.
Objective To identify the most environmentally sustainable urinary drainage strategies commonly used to manage bladder outlet obstruction and also to highlight actionable levers for reducing the footprint of urinary drainage in clinical practice. Materials and Methods We conducted a comparative life cycle assessment of three urinary drainage strategies

Longevity and Reactivation of Intracontinental Walled Basins: Thermochronologic Evidence From Western Mongolia

open access: yesBasin Research, Volume 38, Issue 4, July–August 2026.
Permian–Jurassic tectonism produced cooling ages preserved in Mesozoic strata of the Dzereg and Dariv basins. Thermal modeling indicates mid‐Cretaceous and late Cenozoic basin inversion and cooling synchronous with bounding‐range exhumation, supporting a long‐lived source‐to‐sink relationship and persistent inherited relief since the Jurassic ...

Thermal and Structural Reconstruction of an Eroded Foreland Basin: Central Appalachian Basin, USA

open access: yesBasin Research, Volume 38, Issue 4, July–August 2026.
New low‐temperature thermochronology and modelling reveal a complex thermal history for the central Appalachian Basin. Results indicate Carboniferous exhumation of the fold‐thrust belt and Mesozoic heating in the foredeep linked to the Rome Trough. Deeply buried Devonian source rocks were consequently pushed past the peak oil and gas windows.

Cortical‐Hypothalamic Assembloids Uncover the Cortical Regulation of Hypothalamic Responses to Fatty Acid

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 59, Issue 8, August 2026.
By assembling cortical‐hypothalamic circuits, we show that cortical input protects hypothalamic neurons from fatty acid‐induced damage, which activates PGC1α to boost mitochondrial function. This reveals a cortico‐hypothalamic axis that defends against metabolic stress.

Natural Resources and Political Patronage in Africa: An Ethnicity Level Analysis

open access: yesReview of Development Economics, Volume 30, Issue 3, Page 1957-1972, August 2026.
ABSTRACT We investigate the effect of resource discoveries on ethnicity‐level political patronage in Africa using a large geospatial dataset of 254 ethnic groups in 15 countries over the period 1960–2004. We find that the first (or single first) resource discovery in a virgin ethnic homeland increases the share of cabinet posts of that ethnicity.
