3D Reconstruction of Urban Areas

2011 International Conference on 3D Imaging, Modeling, Processing, Visualization and Transmission, 2011
Virtual representations of real world areas are increasingly being employed in a variety of different applications such as urban planning, personnel training, simulations, etc. Despite the increasing demand for such realistic 3D representations, it still remains a very hard and often manual process.

Urban areas and urban ecology

2020
Urbanization is one of the most profound cultural and ecological phenomena that have been identified, a leading cause of biodiversity decline, and is projected to increase in the foreseeable future. Understanding urbanization’s influence is hindered without an acknowledgment that the same term can mean different things to different groups. The two most

Monitoring of Flooding in Urban Areas

2007 Urban Remote Sensing Joint Event, 2007
Urban areas are crowded environments, where a disaster can bring dramatic consequences, if not adequately forecasted and faced. Remote sensing instruments can be fruitfully used for both prediction and aid organization purposes. In particular, in this paper we present innovative synthetic aperture radar (SAR) techniques for the detection of a flooded ...

Air Circulation in Urban Areas

2021
One of the consequences of the dramatic increase in urbanization that has taken place in recent years is the replacement of rural and green areas with roads, vast extents of concrete and large vertical surfaces. The air circulation in urban areas is different from that in the surrounding rural environment and is difficult to predict because it largely ...

Urban Areas

2019
Urbanization and human activities create a wide variety of soils within urban environments, ranging from near natural (e.g., urban forest) to highly disturbed soils (e.g., soils in abandoned industrial areas), with great spatial and often vertical variability.

Mycetes and urban areas.

Parassitologia, 2006
Mycetes are ubiquitous organisms that can cause mycoses in human and animals. The role of animals in the epidemiology of human mycoses in urban areas is multiform, but here will be discuss only two features: A) animals as vectors of mycoses and B) animal substrates as growth factor of pathogenic fungi.

Propagation Losses in Urban Areas

2014
In the article a modified UTD method for determining propagation losses in the big-city area has been presented. Modification of this method consists in using a model of physical geometry of wave propagation and using patterns occurring in the UTD method for reflection coefficients and diffraction of waves at corners.

Video documentation of urban areas

Computers, Environment and Urban Systems, 2005
Abstract The massive amount of information that is currently available is challenging the ability of urban communities to organize, process, and analyze all the information they require. This paper focuses on the concepts and principles for multimedia assets (especially videos) aiming to provide easier access to geographically relevant views on urban
