The flexible urban grid: adaptation, expansion and evolution in Philadelphia's city block morphology

open access: yes, 2023
This study examines the evolution of Philadelphia’s city block morphology between 1683, when the city was planned by William Penn, and 1900, when urban expansion abandoned the grid. The study uses both quantitative and qualitative assessment.

Spatiotemporal dynamics and geo-environmental factors influencing mangrove gross primary productivity during 2000–2020 in Gaoqiao Mangrove Reserve, China

open access: yesForest Ecosystems, 2023
Background: Mangrove forests are a significant contributor to the global carbon cycle, and the accurate estimation of their gross primary productivity (GPP) is essential for understanding the carbon budget within blue carbon ecosystems.

A small vocal repertoire during the breeding season expresses complex behavioral motivations and individual signature in the common coot

open access: yesBMC Zoology, 2021
Background Although acoustic communication plays an essential role in the social interactions of Rallidae, our knowledge of how Rallidae encode diverse types of information using simple vocalizations is limited. We recorded and examined the vocalizations

Classification of Urban Area Using Multispectral Indices for Urban Planning

open access: yes, 2020
An accelerating trend of global urbanization accompanying population growth makes frequently updated land use and land cover (LULC) maps critical. LULC maps have been widely created through the classification of remotely sensed imagery.

Mycophenolate Mofetil Treatment Reduces the Risk of Treatment Escalation Due to Vascular Complications in Limited Cutaneous Systemic Sclerosis: Emulation of a Target Trial From the Italian Rheumatology Society SPRING Registry

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) use in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (lcSSc) is relatively uncommon because of the lower fibrotic burden and the predominance of vascular complications. In vitro observations and clinical data from transplanted patients suggest a protective effect of MMF on endothelial function.
